Anyone had enough of Porto-1978? I have!
Author: Billy_Bob_Joe

Is it just me or does Porto-1978 get on anyone elses tits? All these crap sociological rants and his use of his stinking attitude has started to bore me! All he does is dis-respect every country under the son other than Portugal and every other team other than Porto! He needs to learn some manners and some respect for others, i'm sure he wouldnt have such an attitude if he was put face to face with some of the people he's been dis-respecting, but he gets to hide behind his computer! This is a football forum for football chat, thats keep it that way! Cheers!!!

Porto-1978 is euphoric, and quite understandable after Portos CL-win. But I think both porto-1978 and Billy-Bob should read their own contributions to this forum before blaming the other (Look who's talking). I don't really think that either of you need to blame the other for bias or bigotry or not.

Give each other a hotmail (or chat or ICQ) adress and continue your conversation there. Or continue on this forum. So far - as mentioned - I think a portuguese from Porto is allowed to talk in VERY TALL SYLLABLES. But I find it disappointing that you, porto-1978, is bantering other teams and nations.

You are the bosses now. Enjoy it.

Who are you, Billy_Bob_Joe? I do not remember you participating in this forum recently?
I realy cannot remember that I was offended or bored by Porto-1978, but this harangue against him does bore me.
And to open a topic for this? Really, what were you thinking? This is football forum, not anti Porto-1978.

Well, i have and i've told him so on a topic he "dug" out to talk a bit more about FC Porto. Also, i told him why. And without insults...

But i would never dream of opening a new topic specifically to insult a member. So, in fact, i've had enough of you much, much more.

That is the great thing about an open forum like this: If you don't like it: LEAVE!

Hi Ricardo,

Sadly, I have to say that I am going to have to do just that.

The degeneration of the forum into pettyness, baiting and racist insults has put me right off.

I shall continue to use Bert's web site, but now feel there is so much 'chaff' within the forum that it is no longer worth the effort trying to find the 'wheat' in amongst it all.

With apologies to Bert...

Yours sadly,

Dunc

As ever, when one leaves in a huff, one secretly hangs around to see if one is missed!

To Billy Bob: I must leave as I cannot compete with your sparkling wit. "Smell my cheese" is that Wilde, Shaw or Ibsen?

To Mzok: It's a fair cop. You'll notice that, since Bert mentioned that space was an issue, I have stopped posting to the Fantasy Football thread. I am sorry I started it.

Bert must be the arbiter of what is and isn't a good use of resources on this site, and as long as he's happy, then you should continue as you see fit.

I just think it best that I move on (really this time!)

Cheers

Apart from the last few days, I've not posted in here for many months and I generally only reply to topics already started. Of course with the qualifying rounds for many tournaments being drawn this week I have returned to the site. I'm sure I will go back to lurking soon enough.

Duncan, I feel sorry that it had to end this way. My advice: take a holiday, and come back later. If you like.

You said: "Bert must be the arbiter of what is and isn't a good use of resources on this site, and as long as he's happy, then you should continue as you see fit.". I'm not happy at all. But as I said before: my role as arbiter is only to keep the forum open or to close it. I simply don't have the time nor the desire to monitor. And although not all threads on this forum have the same quality, some threads contain info that cannot be found elsewhere on the web. For me that's enough reason to continue the forum.

Hope you will finish the thread on Euro 2004 Fantasy Football. Especially since I climbed all the way from the bottom up to 4th place

It's your choice, Dunc, but I agree with Bert. Just take some days off. IMO you are a valuable contributor to this forum. I think people mentioned (and unmentioned)has taken the point and will sharpen up a bit.

I follow Wimbledon-tennis. Is the lousy weather on British Isles maybe affecting your mood a little, Dunc

Stay put, Dunc

Bert, Anita:

For 'cheer up' and 'cool down', read 'sober up', which I now have!

I have been around the room, collected my toys from the floor, and put them back in the pram...

Gentle English stoicism has returned.

And Anita, please don't mention Wimbledon, or indeed any other major sport. We English are feeling pretty sore at the moment.

Remember, we English have a divine right to win at everything, and we get a little tetchy when upstarts from the continent and the colonies have the temerity to beat us!

Tantrum over, with apologies!

"Jolly good", Dunc. Welcome back. Have reminiscenses of England winning some world title recently. Rugby, wasnt it

So its not all that bad. And with no bias, I think England performed surprisingly well in Euro2004. Margins.

Now I observe that someone on another topic has written something negative about Rosenborg, so guess I have to kick his ass.

I donīt keep replying or posting if someone i respect by his contributions to the forum (such as dunc) leaves because of me. But i donīt think i have to leave just because someone as Billy_Bob_Joe says me to do it.
I donīt think i should write with caps just because of my team results. Iīm sorry if i talk too much on the same club and country is just that are the ones i know the most. Iīm sorry i donīt do calculations and rankings, maybe one day i satrt doing it, but i already like the subjest. Still my vision expressed here is much more periferical to the rankings. Bacause i think they are not all. Do you think itīs bad to the forum? If i talk about society or whatever is linked with football. So, can those that want me out to say it to me to have an idea and decide? If i receive no answers i will keep deciding by my own judgment.

Hi porto-1978

Condolances on Portugal yesterday. But you can't win it all (Porto and Portugal), do you think

I have already written my reply to BillyBobJoe on this topic, so you know my opinion.

In the past I've been a bit scared whenever porto posts as he usually doesn't stop until about 500 words or so, however I think he means well and I would urge him to continue writing stuff, though maybe a little less speaking in tongues.

Bad luck porto, I'm english and I wanted you to win. Can you cope with that?

Hi Porto,

Please don't leave on my or anyone else's account.

I guess we should all try and stick to the purpose of the forum, which is stated at the top of the forum page.

"The aim of this forum is to support discussions on the calculation of coefficients and rankings for UEFA European Cup Football. Contributions about related subjects like formats, draws, seedings, etc. are welcome. Please don't use the forum for commercial purposes or advertising".

My suggestion would be that all of us should try to stick to those guidelines. Not because there's anything wrong with views and discussions outside that, just that this is a non-commercial site with limited space, and there are plenty of message boards etc for those sorts of discussions.

What I would be interested in from you, Porto, is your view on Portugal's country ranking for the coming season.

Will your team be as strong this year with a new manager and some player changes. Will Trappatoni inspire Benfica to an against the odds qualification to Champions League.

Of the 4 teams directly into UEFA, Sporting Lisbon seem like the only hope of good coefficient points. Or do you think that Marítimo, CD Nacional or Sporting Braga will surprise some people.

I'm glad we've all sorted this out! And i apologise for starting this thread, guess i was still upset at England being knocked out on pens again! i guess thats what you get when you put people together from all the four corners of the world, we're obviously not going to agree and when national pride is at stake i guess we all feel the need to stand our ground and defend what we believe in! Bad luck to Portugal by the way but fair play to Greece. Thats why we all love this game, because that sort of thing can happen! Its a funny old game!
All i say now is Euro 2004 is over and now bring on the domestic leagues, C'mon Arsenal!

Like you say, BillyBob, sometimes football can be felt so cruel and unfair that we have to get the steam and anger out somewhere.

And I still think that a little joking and bantering and teasing on this forum is OK. As long as it's not offensive and malicious. Just finding the balance.

Guess I will get my (deserved?)part of bantering on this forum if Rosenborg is being eliminated by Sharif Tiraspol in CLQ2. God(s) forbid!
