| To Zibir, Osirius and other Russians, How large is Russian league geographically? And where is the eastern border (if any)? I don't remember that any team from Vladivostok has ever taken participation in the UEFA cups, thus I suppose the far-east teams don't play in the same division as the ones that are coming from the european part of Russia. |

| There was a time in the ninetees two teames from the Far East were in the Premier League. Now in 1st league there are several teames from this Region as SKA Khabarovsk and Luch Vladivostok.but they are far away from to be proceed to the PL.And even if it is so some day and than to the eropean cups.I don't think they will play they own soil(the teams don't have proper conditions),so they play as Terek from Grozny in Moscow. |

| Tx, I'm wondering how UEFA would react if Luch Vladivostok improved their stadium and qualified for the CL in the incoming years :-) Especially, how would UEFA implement the rule of playing the matches in the same group simultaneously, considering the GMT+11 (or +12) time zone in the far east. |

| You know vlada, similar situatian was in basketball. European organization has obliged to play the Russian side from Cheremkhovo (Irkutsk region, East Siberia) in western part of Russia, but it is unfair.
And geography you can see here. But it's only Pervy Divizion (D-2), all Premier-Liga (D-1) clubs is based in western Russia. The most eastern club in Premier-Liga is FC Amkar from Perm. |

| So how do you play the second league in russia? Do clubs hav to travel by plane all the way to vladivostok just for playing a game? Taking into account that second league clubs probably don't have a lot of money it sounds strange. |

| Slightly off topic, but heres the latest standings and results for the Russian league, very bad result for Lokomotiv today
Kuban 0-0 Moskva Rostov 1-2 Saturn Lokomotiv Moskva 0-1 Rotor Alania 1-4 CSKA Moskva Krylya Sovetov 1-2 Shinnik Dinamo Moskva 3-1 Amkar Spartak Moskva 2-0 Rubin
After round 23
1 CSKA Moskva 46 2 Zenit 45 (game in hand) 3 Lokomotiv Moskva 42 4 Krylya Sovetov 40 5 Torpedo Moskva 39
can just see CSKA having slightly too much for Zenit and retaining the title, top three only in it now |

| Lokomotiv was dominating the whole game, could score up to 5 goals at least, but playing of Rotor goalkeeper was excelent, and on the 91st minute the horrible mistake of Loko keeper led to 0-1. If to toalk about CSKA then it was just a training game with no chance for Alania(it's now in a very poor condition). No efforts from CSKA side at all and 4-1.Lucky for CSKA.not for Loko. |

| 2 mark I haven't data of budgets of clubs of Pervy Divizion (D-2). But I assure you that many clubs from Central and East Russia fly by planes. Clubs choose bus for travel if distance is not more 0.5-0.6 km, I think. Sometimes clubs travel by train. For example, FC Luch-Energiya Vladivostok and FC SKA-Energiya Khabarovsk can travel by bus or train only to each other, FC Lokomotiv Chita allways only by plane. Also there is Vtoroj Divizion (D-3), which devided by geographical principle. In Vostok (East) zone the clubs are even poorer, but they almost constantly should fly by plane (from Omsk and up to Nakhodka, Primorje territory, near Vladivostok) and to replace about 4-5 time zones. |

| Just an update
Zenit St. Petersburg 3-1 Torpedo Moscow
So Zenit move 2 points clear of CSKA with 7 to play, looks like going to the wire. 2 more for Kerzhakov as well, suprsing he hasnt received more widespread attention in western Europe |

| Sometimes, there were technical 3:0s for Eastern Russian clubs in Pervy Division, when some poor teams didn't came to play there.
The second division is divided on zones, and one of the zones is East. To prevent lot of flights.
Russia doesn't like clubs from far Eastern part. Luch Vladivistok and Okean Nakhodka player in Premier League in 1993. Everyone has expected, that federation would make everything to make those clubs relegate. I don't remember, if federation "made everything", but these clubs relegated after relegation play-offs. |

| To any Russians reading this
What has happened to Rotor this year? Have they lost their bestplayers or something. Last I checked they had "5 points" from 14 (give or take a few) games.
are they improving now then? And can they escape relegation troubles? |

| I think it will be fair to create a Siberian Federation, to avoid those long trips. "Normal" Russian teams would play in UEFA competitions, as always, and Siberian in AFC competitions. |

| Sorry to spin off topic slightly here, but isnt it Lokomotiv - CSKA this weekend?, very big game, which Loko have to win really if they want to get back in the CL. Have Zenit got to play any of the top two in the last 7 games? |

| 2 MichaelCollins SC Rotor Volgograd lost in winter Russia international Evgeny Aldonin and all Now SC Rotor take 2 good players from FC Loko (Maxim Buznikin) and PFC CSKA (Spartak Gogniev) and Gogniev scored to FC Loko. My opinion about Rotor, that it have very very bad manegement. It haven't sponsors, now it lost fans and another problems. Rotor the best candidate for downturn. But in the middle of 90s, Rotor was really good, for example, it beat Manchester United FC in Uefa Cup.
2 enxogo I'm from Siberia and I have idea like you about Siberian football federation (but maybe not only Siberian, beacuse there is Far East regions). It will be better than now. More high level. And maybe it federation will have a National team.
2 Richie Yes, today at 16-00 (Moscow) will be match Loko (3 place) - CSKA (2 place), and today will be match Shinnik (6) - Zenit (1) at 18-00, also yesteday was match Torpedo (5) - Krylya Sovetov (4). In this tour top6 clubs play among themselves. But after yesterday's match Loko on 4, KS on 3 And I'm not understand your last phrase |

| Lokomotiv won vs. CSKA, and Zenith lost. Mean Lokomotiv is still in there for the championship. Lokomotiv is the only Russian team with a chance of being seeded in an eventual CLQR3 next year. Though Russian champs have to play CLQR2 first..... |

Rotor Volgograd - is the team, whose strategy was to grow young players. This team never had big money, chairman Vladimir Gorjunov was always whining about that "Nobody needs this team in region". This president was respected before, but now not.
In 90s this strategy worked, but now, when 15 clubs of Premier League buy foreign players for big money, young players are not enough. If Rotor relegates(it is not 100% - today it won 3rd match in a row) - it may fall down very deeply(up to second division). |
