| Yes, it will be dificult to win, and keeping the leading in the return, but not impossible!!! This evening we know what's been happened! In the Euroborgstadium they've a specially place for the CL-trofee.........I'm not joking about that!!!
But,it was a good season for the FC and I'm very glad when they reach the 3rd round off the UC !! |

| It will be difficult enough for Groningen to reach the groupstage, because they are not seeded for the first round draw. They have to be a bit lucky in that draw to have a good chance to reach the groupstage. |

| I'd be amazed but amused if Groningen really did make it through the play-offs. I hope AZ do it though - a new team for the CL with the potential to be reasonably competitive whoever the opponents are. I especially hope Ajax don't come through after finishing so many points behind in the league. |

| Yes, Groningen hasn't played in a Europacup in 14 jears. That means they'll not will be put by rhe stronger teams and it wil become difficult to reach the groopstage off the CL ore UC.
But when the reach the CL-QR3 and loose in that match, than Groningen is one of the 16 loosers of the CL-QR3 and will be put by the 40 strongest teams in the UEFA-cup.
The 16 loosers of CL-QR3 allways will be put by the strongest 40 teams off the UEFACUP, ore isn't that true!?!? |

| nope that's not true, they will enter the draw with their own coefficient (which in fact will be 33% of the netherlands points overall) why should the losers of the 3rd qf-round be treated in a better way than the others? |

| iwan: It doesn't take much thought to realise that the losers with the lowest corefficients in CLQ3 will be unseeded in UCR1. Even if you can't work that out it is quite easy to look up in the UC seeding list - which conveniently indicates which clubs started in CL. This season CSKA Sofia, Cebrecen, Valerengen, Malmo and Anorthis Famagusta were unseeded in UCR1. |

| Yes, you're right about ranking in the UEFACUP!!!
But what ever.......... Groningen did it!!! They've won with 3-1 !!!! I hope they can keep that leading!!! |

| Just confirms to me what a terrible idea play-offs for European places is. Groningen 3-1 AZ, Ajax 3-0 Feyenoord. I just know that Ajax, who have been rubbish this season are going to qualify ahead of teams who finished 14 and 11 points above them in the "real" season. |

| Yes they did it definitly!! Now they'll must beat Ajax. That can become more difficult but nothing is impossible!!!
But the town-council of Amsterdam don't wanne let play the return in Amsterdam becouse there're otter activities in Amsterdam, that means not Ajax but Groningen will play in the 2nd match at home.
But the meaning off the play-offs is the highest ended team can play the extra time at home.
Will that mean the 2nd match(in Groningen) will receive extra time when the both matches has the same solution ore they'll have directly penalties after 90 minutes in the return!?!? |

| I don't think it will differ that much if Groningen is in CL or not. When they are, Ajax will be in UEFA-cup and have a good chance to collect much points there. What I'm more worried about is the easy draw for the Dutch Intertoto team (Sweden, Finland, Estonia or Wales), so there is a high chance the Dutch points have to be divided by 7 in stead of 6 (and maybe even 8 when there is also a Fair Play spot for us). |

Edited by: Giuseppe at: 23-04-2006, 22:37 | Honestly if Groningen get into the CL at the expense of AZ it would be a HUGE injustice. A team that has been working so hard over the last few years with limited resources (compared to PSV, Ajax or Feyenoord) shouldn't be robbed like this of its crowning achievement.
Edit: Now that I think about it Groningen would make an ideal opponent for Steaua in CL QR3 |

| i have nothing against little club like Groningen, but im sory for AZ. This is very stupid system. The domestic leagues are based in the teams presentation in the all season for differance from european cups or domestic cups. Playoffs change this philosophy. What will be do Groningen in CL QR3. I think they have no more 10 % chance to enter in group stage even they will play with Basel, Levski )or Liberec. I dont believe they will win against Ajax |
