According to today's Sport Journal (daily sport paper) the top tier competition format will be changed for the 2007/2008 season. The new format will be three times 11 rounds. After the 22nd round the order of the teams will define new competition numbers for the third round (Berger's tables).

In the play-offs Borac Cacak (pronounced Chachak) beat Napredak Krusevac and remained in the top tier.So the three new teams are Mladost Lucani (Luchani), Cukaricki (Chukarichki) and Borac Cacak.

The season starts on the 11th of August and the 2nd tier should start on the 18th of August.

The official site of the top tier (no information there yet) is

Mladost Apatin have pulled out of the top tier because of the financial difficulties and the shortage of players. They owe 300.000 euros and cannot pay that and also cannot provide the necessary amount to compete (half a million euros). To go on they would need 800.000.

So which team should replace them? It seems to be unclear. Some say it should be Vozdovac some say it should be Napredak. Now we wait for what is called "Urgent matters comittee" to decide. But from what I have read it should be Vozdovac (the first team below the relegation line).

this a very stupid rule. the same thing happened in romania the last two seasons. i think the normal thing is for the next club in the second division to go to the first league.

Well, blue_shark, I have no opinion on this. Could be either way.Bottom line is, none of the two candidates deserved to participate in upper league in the first place. I suppose I would go for the lower division team too.

Maybe a fair thing would be to have a play-off match between the two teams; that way we'd see who is better and deserves to play in the first division next season. At least this would not be an arbitrary decision, but one taken purely on a sporting criterion.

Well, the Urgent matters comittee did not decide anything today. So, the decision will be brought by Executive board on the 19th (of July of course). The main problem is the meaning of "the first under the relegation line". It seems that some think it is the losing promotion play-off finalist (makes sense to me).

UEFA punished Serbian FA with 40.000 Swiss franks for the unsporting behaviour of our audience during the u-21.

By the way, our 2nd tier will have 18 teams next season not 20 like the last year.

It has been decided that Napredak Krusevac will be playing in the top tier whereas Mladost will be playing in the 2nd tier next season
