Re: Scottish Football 2018/19

They play Cowdenbeath on the Friday and Kilmarnock on the Wednesday, so playing a friendly against Helsinki at midday on Sunday will probably be their youth team and a few squad players. Lets hope Helsinki weren't expecting to take a cut of a big crowd.

Re: Third European Cup plans (2021- )

Call it the UEFA Cup! At least when they abolished the Intertoto Cup in 2009... only 9yrs ago... almost everyone got 1 extra slot in Europa League. It has now gone so far the other way that countries ranked 16+ won't have any slots at all in tournament #2 in 3yrs time. Remember those halcyon days wh...

Re: Euro 2020

Croatia and Slovakia could play each other in a friendly on Tue 4th or Wed 5th June? Ok, they'll meet competitively in September - but it's an option? No, they each have a competitive game and a friendly on opposite dates. You can play friendlies when you like though. Last month Scotland played Alb...

Re: Euro 2020

What are probabilities of Germany & Netherlands, Denmark & Eire and/or Finland & Greece entering playoffs?

If so they could meet 5 times in 1 qualifying campaign, having met in NL + qualifiers.

Re: Third European Cup plans (2021- )

Does this explain why they have put EL final back 1 week from this season, so EL2 final can be played on Wednesday before?

Re: Third European Cup plans (2021- )

I noticed the Access List didn't feature "CW"... just "N2" and downward.

Hopefully cup winners retain best non-CL slot.

Re: Third European Cup plans (2021- )

The Scotsman newspaper:
UEFA will leave it to individual associations to decide the criteria for earning a place, be it through league placing or cup.
Is that correct? Domestic FA cups could lose slot?

Re: Euro 2020

Only nations in Division A can be Pot 1; worst 2 bottom finishers in Division A will be Pot 2.

Only the Division C winners + best 2 runnersup will be Pot 3.

Only the best Division D winner will be Pot 4.

Re: Nations League

Giving 2/13 WC slots to Division B & Division C...?!?!

Question: being 'continent-wide', will NL games count as competitive games in FIFA rankings?

What is situation with CONCACAF Cup, defunct Asian Challenge Cup or new 'Asian Solidarity Cup'?

Re: Nations League

UEFA should have had 4 teams in every section in divisions A, B & C... with the remaining 7 playing single-round-robin in Division D, top 2 promoted; 4x bottom in Division C playoff for relegation. Suspect they haven't done that so the big nations can still play glamour friendlies with South Ame...

The Nations League will be played in 4 Divisions based on the UEFA ranking. Countries 1-12 in Division A, 13-24 in B, 25-39 in C and 40-55 in D. In each Division there will be 4 groups of 3 or 4 countries. Winners will be promoted (winners in A qualified for semi finals), last placed teams relegate...

Re: Scottish Football 2016/17

Celtic are certainly cruising along this season - plus having gone out of Europe, and the new League Cup schedule meaning it's already finished, they now have only the Premiership and Scottish Cup to concentrate on for the rest of the season. That said, I don't go in for the talk of them going the r...
