Re: German Football 2023-24
Not enough!
Bundesliga football is a simple game. Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, Bayern always win.

And within just a few days, Franz Beckenbauer, another of the three who ever achieved this, also died. Didier Deschamps hopefully feels well...NederPAOKtzis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 08:32 Mário Zagallo, 4 time worldchampion and the first to do that as footballer and as coach passed away at the age of 92.

Re: UEFA Euro 2024
Isn't constantly playing at the highest level (ie. semi-finals) better? In any case this is merely a question of taste. Subject came up with me, would you rather be Italy and win Euro 2020 but miss two World Cups or be England, no win but runner up and two good World Cups. I'd rather be England. Ne...

Re: UEFA Euro 2024
I don't think Germany's going out in the group stage. Their World Cup group was harder, and the 4pts there would almost certainly have been enough. Nations League group was harder and they again would have had enough. Their last three home friendlies against European opposition, lost 2-3 to Turkey,...

Re: UEFA Euro 2024
Portugal with the luckiest draw at all. A group win almost guaranteed. Then some third placed team in R16. With the Netherlands in QF being the worst case.

Re: English Football 2023/24
Everton have been given a 10 point deduction for breaching FFP rules in England (although it is worded differently to this). It looks like they might appeal. This places them in 19th position currently in the table. And how many do Man City get? Everton were charged with one count of breaching FFP ...

Re: EURO 2024 - qualifiers
And UEFA rubbish seeding rules might lead to a group of death with Netherlands coming from pot 3 along with Italy from pot 4. How can one seed i.e. Albania winning some all-minnows Q-group over Netherlands/Italy just because of an unlucky Q-group draw?

Re: German Football 2023-24
By the way I meant to ask, the 8 goals scored in one half by Bayern before, does anyone know if that is a Bundesliga record? No. According to this: https://iffhs.com/posts/3145 Monchengladbach matched it in a 10-0 win, but Dortmund exceeded it in 1982, scoring 10 goals in an 11-1 win over a team wh...

Union Berlin are officially last in Bundesliga while still being in Champions League (until December 12th). Fun fact: Just 12 months ago, Union were sitting at the very top of the Bundesliga table while Leverkusen were in the relegation zone. Leverkusen then trashed Union 5-0 in November, starting ...

Re: Rugby WC, France, 2023 Sep.8 - Oct. 28.
44-6 in a world cup semifinal. Well, a try in rugby somewhat compares to a goal in football. In average a try is worth like 6 points. So let's divide the final score by 6. Making it a 7-1 scoreline when compared to football. Can you imagine a team getting hammered 7-1 in a football world cup semi fi...
