Women's Championsleague

Post by Malko »

We have with women what i would like to have with men: 2 french teams in Halffinals of Championsleague. Or only one can go to the fianl, cause US Juvisy has to play Olympique Lyonnais , the cupholder, in half-finals. the other game is Wolfsburg(Ger) vs Arsenal.

Last year, Lyon has beaten Potsdam (Ger) in the final that took place in Munich Olympiastadion.

last year, it was vs. Frankfurt.

Lyon played and won the final vs. Potsdam the year before (in 2011 at London, score 2-0) but lost the final vs. Potsdam again in 2010 at Getafe (0-0 + penalties)

I expect Wolfsburg - Lyon final, although Arsenal will for sure give everything to play a final in their city.

Eager to see the next season of women champions league. SFK 2000 from Sarajevo played this year in round of 32 but the ladies lost twice against Sparta Prague with 3-0, but I'm somewhat optimistic that the next season they can again reach that phase and if we get a lucky draw they can at least hope to get to the next phase. There are some rumors that SFK 2000 will be merged in Željezničar sport society which would a great move for the ladies as they will get a bunch of supporters (this season in Round of 32 they weren't even 100 people in the stadium on the match) but also for my club.

And with 2 teams in semi-final, France takes to Germany the 1st place in the 5 years ranking.

1st leg results:

Lyon 3-0 Juvisy
Arsenal 0-2 Wolfsburg

Looks like another Franco-German final, with Lyon being firm favourites.

As expected the final is Olympique Lyon vs. VfL Wolfsburg, the 4th time in a row Lyon faces a German club in the final.

Lyon are the obvious favorites, but Wolfsburg had a great first European season and should be able to upset them.

Yes, ever since they renamed the UEFA Women's Cup to the Women's Champions League and introduced the one legged final.
