yes, Gent has more chances than Gladbach, because Gent is much stronger than Gladbach....0 points in 5 games......even if the Bundesliga is stronger than the belgian League, 0 points is 0 points....they even would not be on the first places in second league. But nevertheless, i think Valencia and Lyon will go out of this group

Of course. Same as team doing 0 points in 5 games in Ligue 1 is worse than a team doing 5 points in 5 games in Division d'honneur de Luxembourg. Simple reasoning: 5 points is more than 0 points. :!:

greenbay, division d'honneur is only the second league in Luxembourg. The first one is called BGL Ligue or tradiinnally national division. No, 0 points in Bundesliga is about the level of.....the first places of Bundesliga 2.......and there, the belgian first league is stronger. Accept it or would you even claim that Gladbach would beat Metz (ligue 2 France today?) Oh, like i know you, you would........

Anderlecht almost won vs Monaco, so did Gent vs Lyon, so belgian league could be considered the same level or even a bit stronger than french I think. You say german league is stronger than belgian, so...

miesanbeton, i don^t think that these two games of Lyon and Monaco were very significant concerning the two leagues, at least not in their entireness. see also Monaco and Lyon had much difficulties in the beginning of Ligue 1.

Now we must hope, even if it will be a difficult game, that Lyon gets its next 3 points vs Valencia tonite at Gerland (who lives his last CL and Ligue1-games). I exspect a Zenit-win in the other match, even if i hope Gent would do something there....

Expected wins for Zenit and Valencia.

This time Shrek and the Afro Leg Breaker didn’t had to save the day, the Russian sidekicks also know some tricks. They can’t help in the home match against the weakest opponent, but can they do much more than that?

Lyon had a very weak start, but in 2007 they had a weaker start (two 0-3 defeats) and still recovered to advance from its group. Can they do it again?
Returning to the CL to do what they’re doing now, it would be preferable not returning at all, they’re (so far) a stain in the club’s reputation. They’re confirming that the Astra Giurgiu defeat was not an accident; it’s what they can do with their current level. They have the next four matches to prove it wrong.

Lyon lost at home against a team who previously lost at home.
The translation could be that Lyon is far behind these two teams.
The group could go in a very boring way, unless Gent makes some surprises..

Newcastle in 2002ish for one. It is still a rare feat though.

In Group H, expected wins for Zenit and Valencia.

Who would have thought, two months ago, that Zenit would be the best team in the Champions League so far?
They are the only one 100% victorious, never before they had won 3 CL games in a row!
And they are doing it spending nothing in reinforcements, unlike they did in previous seasons where they used to spend a fortune and get no results.

They are one of the “already qualified” teams, alongside Real Madrid, PSG, Barcelona and Bayern. And I’d say it is fair, because Lyon and Gent only have one point each and they won’t get to 9 points anymore.

Even if Lyon wins at home against Zenit and Gent, they won’t win in Spain against Valencia.
Gent too won’t win its remaining three matches. So Zenit is safe.

This can be over already in the next round, if Zenit doesn’t lose in France and Valencia wins in Belgium.

Valencia’s win against Gent wasn’t promising for the second match in Belgium, though. Just like Manchester City’s 2-1 win against Sevilla wasn’t promising for what is still left to play.
Of course that Gent is no Sevilla, so there isn’t much to be worried about for Valencia, but still, only winning 2-1 at home, with one of your goals (or both?) being own goals isn’t exactly something to be proud either.

Nobody has smashed Gent yet, only short wins, and in Lyon’s case they couldn’t even defeat them!
Will they still lose heavily in the remaining games? And if they won’t, what does it mean? That perhaps they weren’t as bad as they seemed, or that no team in this group is particularly good, and they were all lucky to be in the same group, and in other groups they would be doing a lot worse.

Anyway, Gent has an excuse to have 1 point, which is still 1 point above expectations. Lyon is the one that should be ashamed for only having one point, this is already their worst ever CL start, and will probably become their worst ever CL campaign.
If this is the best they can do, it would be preferable not qualifying to the CL at all. They are destroying the reputation of the club that took so much time to build (over one decade) but can be ruined in just a few weeks.

Lyonjhust have to win his next 3 matches (eventually a draw in vaencia will be enough) to qualify. ......qualifying for the El is even more easy. To beat Gantoise at home......

"Just have" : lulz. If Zenit loses by one goal against Lyon, a draw (vs Gent or Valencia) is enough to be above Lyon. For Valencia, if they don't lose in Belgium, a draw against Lyon is enough to qualify.

For EL, yes winning against Gent should be enough, unless something not so improbable happens :
Gent - Valencia 3-2
Lyon - Zenit 0-0

Zenit 10
Valencia 6
Gent 4
Lyon 2

Zenit - Valencia 1-0
Lyon - Gent 1-0

Zenit 13
Valencia 6
Lyon 5
Gent 4

Valencia needs a draw to qualify, Lyon needs a win to qualify and Gent is sure to be 3rd with a win.
