[DRAW] Europa League - 1st and 2nd QR

Post by gukfvaEU »

Maccabi, Midtjylland and HJK are top seeds who start from the 1st qualifying round.
Your tips, wishes?

I wish for an attractive opponent, but still winnable draw for all the usual suspects - Eastern European teams generally and some from the West - especially for Videoton, Debrecen (Hungary), Aktobe, Kairat Almaty (Kazakhstan), Dila Gori (Georgia), Qabala (Azerbaijan), Pyunik Yerevan (Armenia), Spartak Trnava (Slovakia), Hearts and Aberdeen (Scotland) from the seeded group. From the unseeded teams I cheer most for MTK (Hungary) and Ordabasy (Kazakhstan), Chikhura (Georgia), Shirak Gyumri (Armenia), Kapaz Ganja (Azerbaijan).
From teams enter the 2nd round I cheer for Maribor (Slovenia, seeded), Torpedo Zhodino (Belarus, unseeded) and Hibernian (Scotland, unseeded).

Poland with 3 unseeded teams starting from Q2

I wish polish teams avoid long eastern trips for Q1.
For Q2: HJK & Maribor seem to be a dream draw to take Q3 seeding. Ventspils, Neftci, slovak&hungarian siedes are welcome to.

Would like for my team (AIK) to avoid any unseeded team from Kazakshtan or Azerbaijan in the first round (there are only one of each) Since they often are better than their rank, and far far away. Maybe Gorica & MTK also should be avoided. But, nice locations at the same time.
Same goes for all Swedish teams I guess (Göteborg 1QF - Häcken 2QF) since it's better that as many as possible goes far in the tourney. Still, have a hard time root for Göteborg. :? But for the nations ranking it would be the best if all teams did well, so...
A nice  boat trip to Mariehamn from Stockholm (Åland Island between Sweden & Finland would do me fine, or maybe a Tallinn ditto)
Otherwise a team from the British Isles would be OK. Why not a Welsh team for starters.
Although... we have had a break for a while now (20+ days) and such, lost the advantage a bit of being in match mode over some winter leagues. We've just started with friendlies last week. More matches scheduled for the teams in the coming week as well, before the EL-start the week after. And the first friendly clearly showed the necessarity of that as well.

Yeah I can pretty much 2nd to that. :)

My team (Midtjylland) could also draw one of the 3 Faroe Islands sides, to make it "inter-kingdom", could be fun also.
Icelandic teams I think also could be fun, but would not say no to teams from the British Isles.

potential for Zaglebie Lubin:

Kəpəz Gəncə (Azerbejdżan)
Sławija Sofia (Bułgaria)
MTK Budapeszt (Węgry)
Partizani Tirana (Albania)

arent these the 4 strongest possible?

Cannot believe this has come around again - and they expect us to play QR1 up against the QF and SF from Euro 2016.........one of our players is still there playing.

For Aberdeen, since we went to the country last season, I would like to avoid the Kazakh club, and certainly not Shkendija again who were very decent for an unseeded QR1 team. Maybe a nice trip to Wales, Ireland or the Baltics.

In QR2 a beatable seeded club would be good - we did this last season against Rijeka - and were seeded for QR3, but unfortunately met a good Kairat team.

I think we've had tough draws the last two seasons (Groningen, Sociedad, Shkendija, Rijeka, Kairat)......so a nice smooth passage this time please UEFA.

Hearts' section is significantly easier than Aberdeen's. But regionalisation is back, and they should be beating anyone there. Cork City the one to avoid for Hearts, Aberdeen could do with avoiding the Finns most and then the Icelandic team.

Well. Beitar Jerusalem is the worst Israeli team in this year's competition. I would like them to avoit Spartak Myjava in group 7. The rest of the unseeded teams seems manageable.

On group 8, La Fiorita is of course the most desirable team for any seeded team, but Maccabi Tel-Aviv should be able to pass any of them.

Slavia Sofia for Zagłębie Lubin would be nice, mieszambeton
