2014 WC QUAL UEFA GRP A - CRO - SER - BEL - SCO - MAC - WAL

Post by maluyaca »

There will be eight groups of six teams and a single group of five teams. The nine group winners qualify, while the eight best runners-up – ranked according to all their games except for games against the sixth-placed team in their group – will play-off for the four remaining spots. The worst runner up is out.

Tiebreakers

For FIFA World Cup qualifying stages the method used for separating teams level on points is the same for all Confederations, as decided by FIFA itself.[6]

If teams are even on points at the end of group play, the tied teams will be ranked by:
* goal difference in all group matches
* greater number of goals scored in all group matches
* greater number of points obtained in matches between the tied teams
* goal difference in matches between the tied teams
* greater number of goals scored in matches between the tied teams
* greater number of away goals scored in matches between the tied teams if only two teams are tied

If teams are still equal then a single play-off at a neutral venue will be played. If scores are level after 90 minutes in the play-off, then two 15-minutes periods of extra time and (if required) a penalty shoot-out would determine the winner.

Prediction:

Croatia winner
Serbia runner up

worst 2nd placed team contenders:

Group A (Serbia)
Group D (Sweden or Republic Ireland)
Group H (Not England)
Group I (France)

I hope Belgium will qualify but I don't think they will with that loser as a coach. Prediction qualification hopes end in october 2012. Worst 2nd is the best they can do, but hopefully I'm wrong.

Belgium were disappointing in the Euro 2012 qualifiers, but from what I saw from the recent friendly France - Belgium, this is a decent team in all lines.
It's a balanced group and I think that they have their chances in this group, although teams like Croatia and Serbia are never easy to play.

What did they show against France, nothing they stayed with 11 for the goal.
No with that idiot as a coach we won't get anywhere.

Belgium has a very talented group of players at the moment, but indeed a very weak coach. Very defensive.

Despite this, I still think they at least end up as second.
1. Croatia
2. Belgium
3. Serbia

Serbia is either the first or third in the group, and almost never takes second place.

We won the group - 2000, 2006 and 2010.
We were the third - 2002, 2004, 2008, 2012.

Our only other place in the last 20 years was 1998. We are weird team, and now we will probably end up on as third or fourth..

great, very balanced group. lack of "top class" and minnow teams makes it more exciting. it has minidivisions as balkan cup and british home c'ship, with belgium as guests.

Negotiations apparently ongoing to play this earlier, maybe Fri 31 May.

Closer to end of the club season and would let Scotland enter in proposed FA 150th Anniversary Tournament during 1st half of June*.

Other UK nations kept June clear for this reason.

*if England not at Confederations Cup...!!

1 Croatia
2 Belgium
3 Wales
4 Serbia
5 Macedonia
6 Scotland

Croatia have the best team, Belgium will screw up the playoff, the revitilised Welsh will give it a shot but miss out, Serbia will do as they did in 2012 qualifyng, Macedonia will pick up a few wins at home, and Scotland will be thumped by everyone.

Tragically, the Welsh manager Gary Speed hung himself this morning.

Very sad, incomprehensible news.

I hope welsh national team contuines to grow he was doing such a great Job. As Leeds are my English team (My Dads family team) and i started supporting them in late 80's he was always my favourite player beside Gordon Strachan back then. Could do with having a player like him now.

I don't see how you can call the Belgian coach "defensive".
Just have a look at the line up and he always tries to score at least 2 goals.

The only problem that Belgium has right now except from too many top class players is the backs.

I enjoy this group as it it doesn't have any top class teams in it and basically it's an open group.

I say that Belgium is going to end first in their group :) followed by Croatia then.
