With two weeks (plus tonight's Malaga-Levante) to go

1. Barsa--------85 Hosts Espanyol
2. Atleti--------85 At Levante
3. Real----------84 Hosts Valencia
4. Villarreal----64
----------------------
5. Athletic------58 At Las Palmas.
6. Celta---------57 Hosts Malaga
7. Sevilla--------52 Hosts Granada. Seventh place guaranteed (at worst).
---------------------- Largely immaterial until we get to
16. Granada----36 At Sevilla.
17. Rayo---------35 At Real Sociedad.
----------------------
18. Sporting-----35 At Getafe in the BIG ONE!
19. Getafe-------35 Hosts Sporting.
20. Levante------29 Hosts Atleti. Update: Levante loses 3-1 in Malaga on two goals at 90' +; this loss officially condemns Levante to the drop.

All games of Week 37 are Sunday, 8 May at 17:00.

Las Palmas-Athletic
Celta-Malaga
Sevilla-Granada . . . also key for whether Granada avoids the drop.

Games to decide relegation:

Sevilla-Granada

Dateline Barcelona

Light rain--very light--falling on the Ciudad Condal. Off to the Camp Nou in just a couple of minutes. We'll see if they pull in 90,000 plus for today's derby, which will feature a huge mosaic "We're All Here" in Catalan.

Does Spain not have a multileague when all 10 games are on at once then?

91,610 in the Camp Nou see Barsa keep first place with a 5-0 thrashing of Espanyol. Messi scored on a free kick at 7'; Suarez made it 2-0 at about 52' and 3-0 at about 62'; Rafinha had a tap-in at 74'; Neymar finished the scoring at about 84'.

Pippo Rossi scored at 90' to beat Atletico and remove them from the title race; Real stayed in the hunt 3-2 over Valencia. Celta took over fifth place beating Malaga as Athletic could only tie 0-0 at Las Palmas. Granada crushed Sevilla--virus UEFA?--1-4, which I think means Granada will stay up. Getafe and Sporting tied 1-1, which means they're both still in the soup. Rayo lost in Anoeta 2-1, which means we gotta win at home to Levante and hope and pray. Will work out all the possibilities when I've got time.

Just got confirmation that Granada is safe. Barsa plays at Granada next weekend; must win to guarantee winning the league.

Rayo's chances are very slim now. Sunday's defeat almost kill their chances.

At least one between Getafe and Gijon should win against opponents with nothing to play.

Hope springs eternal :D :D :!: Should both Geta and Sporting lose, a tie saves us. If they both tie or worse, a win saves us. Crummy odds, surely, but . . . it is what it is, as my new philosophical view of life, the universe, and everything would have it.

All good things must end  tomorrow, very early, my wife and I leave Barcelona after another wonderful visit--wonderful despite illness and Barsa's elimination from the CL. We spent time here this year with many wonderful friends, including SirHenri--which goes to prove that you don't have to root for the same teams to be good friends :!:
We plan to return next year about the same time as this year, health permitting.
Viva el futbol and visca Barsa.

Wasn't sure which thread to use, so will be this one.

Just read Barcelona fear Granada will let their grass grow.
But from next season there will be regulations about the length of the grass.

The same article says in UEFA matches there is regulations saying it needs to be between 2-3 cm.
Do any of you know about the regulations for next season will be the same and also does either of this 2 regulations include watering?

Safe home, Alan.

Not been saying much about the final games as, if I had to write out a list of my preferred Spanish sides, Sporting, Rayo and Getafe would be in the top ten. Damn.
