Matchday 29/30

BK Häcken 2-0 Kalmar FF
Djurgårdens IF 0-0 Jönköpings Södra IF
GIF Sundsvall 1-4 Hammarby IF
IK Sirius 0-4 Malmö FF
Halmstads BK 1-1 AFC Eskilstuna
Östersunds FK 4-1 IF Elfsborg
AIK 2-1 IFK Göteborg
IFK Norrköping 2-0 Örebro SK

1. Malmö 64 +37
2. AIK 54 +24
3. Djurgården 50 +22

4. Östersund 49 +16
5. Häcken 49 +13
6. Norrköping 47 +5

AIK tonight secured the second place in the table after Malmö, for the second year in a row (Been top-3 for five straight years now)
But, since Djurgården have lost most of their form lately and the chasing teams behind instead have won their matches and considerly tighten the gap, the race for the last EL-place is still alive and more or less wide open between; Djurgården, Östersund & Häcken. Even Norrköping with a microscopic chance, but, no, that's not gonna happen. All teams also play away from home in the last match.

On Sunday:
Kalmar vs Djurgården
Jönköping vs Östersund
Malmö vs Häcken
Elfsborg vs Norrköping

Although, Djurgården still "only" need a win to secure their EL-ticket. But with just one win in their last five, that might be tricky enough for them. Östersund now also feels like the biggest threat to their EL-dream. Even though Östersund also have Thursday's match away vs Bilbao to think about first and foremost. And after that Jönköping who fights for their lives at the bottom. Never the less, a very interesting conclusion of the season when it comes to the race for the final EL-ticket.

12. Kalmar 32 -17
13. Jönköping 29 -15
14. Sundsvall 28 -20
15. Halmstad 21 -18
16. AFC Eskilstuna 20 -25

And in the bottom. Jönköping with the slight upper hand vs Sundsvall when it comes to avoid the #14 spot and the relegation play-off. Kalmar are now safe with Sundsvall's loss at home vs Hammarby.
And Brommapojkarna and now also Dalkurd from the second division have already secured the advancement to the top flight. So the team ending up on place 14 will be facing Trelleborg away-home for the final spot in Allsvenskan 2018.

On Sunday:
Jönköping vs Östersund
Göteborg vs Sundsvall

Almost everything now sorted in Sweden.

Djurgården managed to win their final match and therefore kept the third place and the last EL spot.

Häcken surpassed Östersund and took to the 4th place, which in the long run can give an EL-ticket, if anyone of the top 4 wins the Cup in the spring.

Sundsvall also managed to climb ahead of Jönköping with a somewhat surprising win away to Göteborg. Even though Göteborg have been pretty bad lately.

So Jönköping will now face Trelleborg from the second division in a clash for the final spot in next years Allsvenskan. First match In Trelleborg 15/11.

Never heard of Dalkurd before? What can you tell me about this club? Is it founded by Kurdish immigrants?

Would be funny if they will ever qualify for Europe and then draw a Turkish club.

Yes, Dalkurd is a club founded by Kurds in 2004. But I think it's not all that many "Kurds" in the line-up at the moment.
But it's also somewhat the Kurds national team. They are at the moment located in Borlänge (Northern Sweden) But there is talk on moving the club (Uppsala just north of Stockholm and where Sirius is located) is what's been mentioned. Something the Sirius fans are not all that pleased with, since they then apparently have to share training grounds. Not just the stadium. More to come I guess...

Wiki info on Dalkurd

@Firnen
Yeah Östersund lost their 4th place which could've been a backup for EL if any of the top 4 wins the Cup. Now they are forced to win the Cup (as they did this year) if they want to repeat this years fairy-tale in Europe.

There is a similar story for Syrianska FC and Assyriska FF. They are Swedish professional football clubs based in Södertälje, Stockholm County; the former club was founded by Syriac Orthodox Aramean immigrants in 1977, and the latter by Assyrian immigrants in 1974. They have both played in Allsvenskan.

I also read that Akropolis IF (a Swedish football club located in Sundbyberg, formed by Greek immigrants in 1968) is in the play-offs to be promoted to the second-highest division (Superettan). This will be their best performance ever! I like their winger Kostas Stavrothanasopoulos! :-D

First two teams for all eight groups in the Swedish Cup group stage are now set. (1 & 16, 2 & 15, etc... in the league system at the end of the season) The remaining 16 teams will be drawn in 20/11 in a free draw. Top ranked team with home advantage over the second ranked team in the final group match. (single meetings in the group stage) Group winners advance. The four best group winners point-wise, with home advantage in the quarter finals. Group stage in Feb-March 2018.

Relegation Play-off (Allsvenskan)
Trelleborgs FF - Jönköpings Södra 2-0 / Jönköpings Södra - Trelleborgs FF 1-1

So Trelleborg get the last place to the next year. And Jönköping at the same time says good bye after two years in the top division. They finished 12th last year and this year they ended up two places below on the 14th spot, which in the end became their downfall.

(A tough away game for the local fans of Trelleborg/Östersund when the teams meet next season. It differs 1204 km between the cities, ie approx 12+ hours in a car. Trelleborg is the most southern town in Sweden. But Malmö is pretty close by; 30 km up north, and by that will have a derby down far south next year)

Relegation Play-off (Superettan)
Akropolis IF - IK Frej 1-1 / IK Frej - Akropolis IF 0-0
Mjällby AIF - Örgryte IS 2-1 / Örgryte IS - Mjällby AIF 3–1 (a.e.t)

So both Frej & Örgryte keep their place in Superettan with the smallest margin. Frej on away goals and Örgryte after extra time.

Group stage for the Swedish Cup now been drawn. (Preliminary 17/18 Feb, 24/25 Feb & 3/4 March)
Division numbers in bracket for teams not playing in Allsvenskan are for the next season.

A
Malmö FF
Brommapojkarna
Gefle IF (2)
Dalkurd

B
AIK
Halmstad BK (2)
Syrianska FC (3)
IK Oddevold (3)

C
Djurgården
Jönköpings Södra (2)
Degerfors IF (2)
IK Frej Täby (2)

D
BK Häcken
GIF Sundsvall
IFK Värnamo (2)
Norrby IF (2)

E
Östersund
Kalmar FF
Åtvidabergs FF (3)
Trelleborgs FF

F
IFK Norrköping
Örebro
Helsingborgs IF (2)
Tvååkers IF (4)

G
IK Sirius
IFK Göteborg
Varbergs BoIS (2)
Östers IF (2)

H
Elfsborg
Hammarby
GAIS (2)
Vasalund IF (3)

AIK probably with the luck of the draw getting two relegated teams in Halmstad (1>2) & Syrianska (2>3) while also getting another tier 3 team to the mix. Should advance without any problems. Malmö on the other hand with a much more tougher draw with two promoted teams to the top flight in both Brommapojkarna & Dalkurd.

Dalkurd who next year will be located to Uppsala (home of Sirius) but they will be playing their home games in Gävle, 10 miles/1 hour north of Uppsala until the new stadium in Uppsala is finished in 2019. So we'll have a "derby" in the cup between Gefle & Dalkurd then in that same group.
