well, for a club like Dortmund, beeing the one before the lastis the same as being the last, isn't it? It means : eliminated.

@Malko:

My interpretation of your prattling on the previous page is that Dortmund must win the French league to surpass the achievements of the French teams you name.

:rollfloor: :rollfloor: :rollfloor: :rollfloor:

You're absolutely correct: using this criterion, Dortmund has done nothing.

And I leave you with that wise Spanish proverb,

"Con la ayuda de un vecino, maté un cochino." (Help him out if he doesn't get it, Executor!!)

AlanK, the nothing meant : Nothing more than Montpellier. and that's true. They are both leading of their league and have good chances to be champions......and internationally, both did nothing at all.......Dortmund even twice.
So, Dortmund is "nothing more" than Montpellier.

In fact all those renkings are some "strange". Look even at the FIFA ranking of the national teams.
since last rankiing, France and germany played each one match:
Germany-France 0-2.

Now, germany gains one rank to get on Number 2 ! and France stays at its ranking without progressing. Where is the logic?

Well, I could explain it to you...
But hey, you're a mathematician, you should be able to learn it yourself.

it would be possible if in the same time, better results for France would have been taken away as for germany. And...i doubt about that........or dif France beat Spain a year ago?

...

on another way, the elo-rating
http://clubelo.com/All/Ranking.html
is not up-todate. They say last Marseille-Game was on april 11, and they played and won the League-Cup on the 14th. Or does the Cup not count for rankings? This would be another stupid rule.....

Not that stupid if you take into consideration the fact that the League Cup is not played in some countries, for example in Poland. It would gave an additional advantage for the teams which participate in this kind of competition.
