Re: 2027 AFC Asian Cup, Saudi Arabia
Yes, according to the ASEAN zonal association's tweet, that's what the higher-ranked AFC members disliked, so many games against Asian opponents (this is what they said the disagreement was over). It'll be interesting to see what compromise is agreed upon. I suspect the majority agreed to vote to ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
I remember when Poland played most of their games in Chorzow and they were usually well supported there; I hope they will be as well this year.

Re: 2027 AFC Asian Cup, Saudi Arabia
I am not sure whether it is a good idea that Asian Cup is held only a few months after World Cup. They are the only two major tournaments that AFC teams can participate (excluding being guest teams in Concacaf Gold Cup/Copa America). This gives a large gap that AFC teams have no major ...

Re: 2027 AFC Asian Cup, Saudi Arabia
These qualifying groups are strange, they're dragging them out unnecessarily. 5 windows to play 6 games. Even AFC WCQ will be finished before then, except for the intercontinental playoffs team.
The play-off round, which eliminated the worst three teams, finished in September 2024. The last ...

Re: Conference League 24/25, Matchday 6 (19 December)
I enjoyed watching the Conference League league phase review show on uefa.tv, excellently produced it shows how valuable the competition has become for European club football.

Re: Super League is back (with a new name - Unify League)
I see, so you would base the new Access List on a combination of the 5-year league and club rankings.
Would the 8 clubs directly qualified for the UEL be the Cup Winners of leagues ranked 1-8? At the moment no club can qualify for UCL by winning its domestic cup.

Re: Super League is back (with a new name - Unify League)
With a total entry of 236 clubs according to the current Access List and discounting 28 which qualify automatically via domestic competitions we are left with 208 clubs which would enter qualifying lasting 8 weeks, as it does now.
The clubs automatically qualified for the three LPs would be:

Re: UEFA Executive administration matters
Suprisingly the U19 EURO is being held from 13 to 26 June, simultaneously with the U21 EURO from 11 to 28 June.
Previously it's always been held in July.

Re: Super League is back (with a new name - Unify League)
1. Does that mean clubs would qualify for the three LPs based on the final qualifying LP ranking? If so, how would the places be allocated?
2. and 3. are not viable solutions.

Re: 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup
Thanks for the information, I was wondering how the Women's European Qualifiers leading to the WWC would be formatted with the NL-style qualifying.

Re: Super League is back (with a new name - Unify League)
Thanks for the explanation.
The one problem I can see is dates: you would need 9 weeks - one week more than present - to complete the 2 home-and-away preliminary rounds, qualifying LP and single-leg PO round.

Re: Super League is back (with a new name - Unify League)
If I have understood your idea correctly - and it appeals to me - after 2 x preliminary rounds for the clubs ranked lowest in the 5-year ranking - or for the clubs from the countries ranked lowest in the 5-year ranking? - an 80-club UCC qualifying LP would be played with each club playing 4 games ...

Re: Super League is back (with a new name - Unify League)
Not nearly enough to keep the interest alive among fans imo, especially in seasons dominated by one team since the early stages.
Alternatively, a "NBA style" Play-off system could make the last month or two of the season interesting, but the rest of the season would be almost pointless.
A ...
