Re: Friendlies
Always interesting to see minnows from different continents measuring up against each other, mostly in friendlies obviously. Haiti beat Azerbaijan away 0-3.

Re: 2026 World Cup - African qualifiers
Which begs the question: how come Sudan's NT has been historically weak while their two top clubs (Al Hilal and Al Merrikh) have been minor powers in the CAF competitions?Firnen wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 20:03 Sudan being a World Cup contender (and above Senegal nonetheless) is perhaps the bigges upset of the CAF Qualifiers so far.

Re: 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup
From the little I could catch, we played kind of lousy, the pitch didn't help either, but we should've been able to do some damage with a man up. Alas, we should play better at home, though with the away goals rule in place, any goal conceded could be catastrophic.

Maybe if Canada somehow advance. Though I don't want it, those f*ckers went and became the only Gold Cup winners other than the usual two, so now they do the same with the NL? Let's rather see Panama ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - Oceanian qualifiers
They should either expand the confederation to include all Pacific islands (Guam, Philippines, etc. Even states that have been partial members like Micronesia) or just disband it and have everyone playinf in AFC. Regarding travel distance, they could have separate paths for East and West until the ...

It's now or never for Peru to really enter the battle now at home vs Bolivia.

Re: LaLiga 2024-2025 (First Division)
To be fair Real Madrid last week protested too, with good reason, because they were forced to play on Saturday (instead of Sunday) against Villarreal after the Atletico CL game on Wednesday.
Questionable scheduling for both Real and Barcelona.
Yeah, everybody got the memo on that one with ...

Re: LaLiga 2024-2025 (First Division)
Almost total domination for Barca and RM in the top 10, only one man not from them. Good to see Bellingham up there and in the XI, which is 7/11 from those two clubs.
It's absolutely insane that a 17 year old is the best player in Spain.
Messi was that for Argentina when he started, they still ...

Re: Battle for important ranking positions 2024-25
Behind us are the days where Lazio tottenhammed the EL (to the point where I debated whether to call it "lazioing" instead of "tottenhamming"), but there's a reason they've won squat in who knows how many years. They're favorites against Bodo, yes, but the Norwegians definitely have their chances ...

It makes perfectly sense a guy from Portugal only knowing Real Madrid because of English-speaking media. I don't know what I would do without english-speaking media. OMG. Now you are making absolutely perfect sense!

Re: Conference League 24/25, Round of 16
Odds for reaching the next round:
Legia 8.50
Chelsea 1.07
Djurgardens IF 2.75
Rapid 1.45
Betis 1.17
Jagiellonia 5.00
Celje 10.00
Fiorentina 1.05
Even Legia vs Chelsea is rated lower than Celje vs Fiorentina. Jagiellonia is higher probably because Betis are usually unreliable for a Spanish ...

Re: Italian football season 2024-25
I said it before and I'll say it again, Atalanta is still lacking something for a Serie A or CL trophy.
Agree.
Maybe the last season UEL win was an exception.
Atalanta has not yet the size of a trophy winner.
Similar as the case of Villarreal, this EL triumph was achieved because they're ...
