Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
Agreed - there is absolutely no chance the UNL WCQ play off places will go all the way to the best League B runner up! That would require 23 of the 24 in the top 2 places of qualifying to be from the following 26 teams: 16 League A teams, the 4 League B group winners, the 4 League C group winners ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
Some interesting information: Should England finish 3rd in their WC qualifying group (although unlikely) they would need UNL qualification to make playoffs. They currently sit 2nd in their UNL group (the best of the 2nds in League B), but 27th overall out of the 28 who have possible chances through ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
I feel that they can. I think the only stipulation that has to occur is that the 4 semi finalists are in a group of four as they can’t play in June along with March. If we use England as an example. They are more than likely to be seeded in Pot 1 as one of the best 4 ranked teams. Whether they are i ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
Can some of the four topseeded Nations outside of top 2 in League A join a group of four? I feel that they can. Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
So we know that there are 6 four team groups, and 6 five team groups, and the 6 five team groups need 4 teams to play in both March Matchdays. All the UNL semi finalists will be in groups of four. We know that the remaining quarter finalists may end up in either four or five team groups. So because ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
It’s basically top 8 in UNL and the rest is FIFA ranking. Given the UNL groups it is unlikely that a non-top 12 team will qualify for the UNL quarterfinals. If one does, there is a legitimate argument that they deserve a pot 1 seed in 2026 WCQ. Poland is a danger for Austria, I would give them 35-4 ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - European qualifiers
Just now these nations will be seeded in Pot 1 for the European qualifying? From Nations League. Portugal, Croatia, Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Spain. And the 4 other Nations will be England, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria? Is this correct? Correct. So far happens to pretty ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - South American qualifiers
Even at this stage its easy to name 5 out of 6 teams which will qualify directly, Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Ecuador and Brazil are much better than others. The question is about one other direct spot and play-off spot. I like Paraguay chances, they've improved massively after appointing Gustavo ...

Re: UEFA Nations League 2024-25
If Georgia can finish first, certainly helps increase their chances of a WC playoff spot if quite a decent amount of the group winners above them qualify directly for WC. They are currently ranked 9 out of the 14 group winners should things stay this way. The ranking is based on NL only, where ...

Re: 2026 World Cup - South American qualifiers
Standings after matchday 7 No change in which teams are in the top six, or the 7th place for play-off (still occupied by Paraguay despite them having scored only 1 goal in 7 matches!) https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GW2NOhgWsAAm82h?format=jpg&name=small Paraguay’s margins have been either 0 or 1. One 1- ...
