Re: English Football 2023/24
How are Man City better favourites when they're behind with Liverpool to play at Anfield? https://kassiesa.net/uefa/forum2/viewtopic.php?p=583798#p583798 https://kassiesa.net/uefa/forum2/viewtopic.php?p=583853#p583853 https://kassiesa.net/uefa/forum2/viewtopic.php?p=583858#p583858 To add to the poi...

Re: A LEGEND HAS PASSED AWAY
Zagallo's passing means there are no longer any members of the 1958 winning side still with us.

Re: LaLiga 2023-2024 (First Division)
That data would suggest that Girona's form is based on a significant overperformance compared to underlying data and may not be sustainable. For a surprise package like them that is probably to be expected. But just as the economists say "the market can stay irrational for longer than you can s...

Re: English Football 2023/24
No one taking charge of the title race. Liverpool are top and on 84 point pace at the halfway stage. That would be lower than the winning points total of 18 of the last 20 titles. Neither they nor City looking like the steamrollers of recent seasons.

Re: English Football 2023/24
There are a few things behind the malaise at Newcastle. There is plain old regression to the mean; Newcastle exceeded expectations last year and had good luck with injuries. Now they have (or rather had) Europe to contend with and have had lots of injuries. They have the most December fixtures in th...

Re: FIFA Club World Cup 2023, Saudi Arabia
City, City, the best team in the land and all the world . A chorus that has rung out at City matches for maybe 30 years, usually shortly before kick off. These days it probably sounds arrogant. Yet it was just as prevalent when the team were terrible, maybe more so. An absurd ironic statement on on...

Re: English Football 2023/24
Semis: Liverpool v Fulham Middlesbrough v Chelsea According to Mark Chapman last year of double-legged semis! Question is - will the single legs be played at home of one of the teams of on neutral grounds? I'd guess the latter like FA Cup but please, please, don't have them both at Wembley! We had ...

Re: FIFA Club World Cup 2023, Saudi Arabia
With the caveat that many players take a long time to adapt to Guardiola, I'm really not sure what Matheus Nunes brings to the team. I should ask our Portuguese contingent what he was like at Sporting.

Phillips for Rodri, means City are just phoning it in from here on.

Re: English Football 2023/24
Nuno at Wolves had a lot of success at first with a system that maximised the effectiveness of Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez. After Jimenez got that terrible head injury, it felt like Nuno lacked alternative ideas and got more and more defensive in his approach. It was this safety first attitude and...

Expecting pure energy conservation now, given its 27 degrees at half 10 in the evening.

Re: FIFA Club World Cup 2023, Saudi Arabia
Not fantastic fare for the neutral I guess, but we'll see if it opens up now. Alternatively they Uwara might do the old try to hang on to the last 15 then throw on forwards if still 1-0.

Re: FIFA Club World Cup 2023, Saudi Arabia
That half felt a lot like a domestic cup game against a team from the division below. Dogged defending with the most advanced players just in front of the area. Patient probing by City knowing time is on their side so no need to rush it and leave openings. 77% possession but few of the 14 shots any ...

Re: FIFA Club World Cup 2023, Saudi Arabia
Surprisingly this will not be the first time Uwara Red Diamonds and Manchester City have met. Mitsubishi Uwara as they were then known hosted City for a friendly in April 1993. This is curious timing as there were still three Premier League matches left to play. A City side with a mix of regulars an...
