so remarkable is:
- 4 groups of 10
- max 5 teams per association
- 31+2 direct qualifiers
- playing in Brasil?
- playing in the weekend
- still drop off to EL

That would be FANTASTIC, we'd be able to watch live all the CL matches if we wanted to.

6 hours on Friday + 7 hours to sleep + 18 hours on Saturday + 7 hours to sleep + 16 hours on Sunday.

At the moment we can only watch live 4 of the CL's 16 matches in every round and we miss the other 12. :upset:

Why wait until 2027 though, can't they do it already next season?

I ... like it?

Really, that looks like a good set up. And mostly fair. Though can somebody help me an tell me how the elimination phase would work here? I mean after the groups, how many go to the finals, how many drop to EL?

The only thing I think is problematic is the big number of qualifiers. However I don't want a huge qualification tournament beforehand either, so I'm okay with it - somehow.

They have increased the number of teams from the top leagues. England and Italy have 6, Spain and Germany have 5.

I guess that's where your extra 4 teams are coming from, one each from the top 4 leagues. England and Italy probably getting the 6th from the highest coefficient not in CL but in Europe.

It says so on the document - 1st and 2nd to R16, 3rd to 6th to R24, 7th and 8th to EL.

Seems kind of weird they already plan to stop using the partial round robin (A.K.A. mistakenly as "Swiss"), perhaps it is just a plan B if people won't like it.
The rest of the changes can happen regardless (matches around the world, 40 teams)

One other thing that I see here, is that there are teams from only 15 countries, which is one less then the 16 that would be between 2024-2027 (if CL spot won't be used).
This spots would go to a NC instead as you can see (where it says 4+3).

To me this seems much more reasonable than the fake swiss system planned for 2024-2027. However I am not sure how much interest there would be in some of the CL matches worldwide, there is only a handful of clubs so big that people on other continents care for them, certainly not 40.
