Congrats to Oly! Not a quality match though...

Nice to see Greece on 15th!

Pana will start 3 rounds before Oly in EL.

What is the lowest-ranked country with one of its clubs winning a European trophy?

Congratulations Olympiakos! :clapping:

José Luis Mendilibar was an unknown manager 15 months ago. Now he has an Europa League and a Conference League!

I'd say that winning this Conference League with Olympiakos is even more impressive than winning the Europa League with Sevilla.

Perfect season for Olympiakos, first they won the UEFA Youth League, and now they win the Conference League.

Being "just third" in EL group stage was a blessing in disguise. It's too bad that from next season onwards teams won't have this opportunity anymore. :upset:
Records and Statistics:

 UEFA Youth League (all 162 participants - 2013/2014 to 2019/2020)

Dinamo Tbilisi played in the Soviet Top League in 1981 and the Soviet Union was on 8th position in UEFA Country Ranking at that time.

I would say IFK Goteborg UEFA Cup 1981-82. Sweden was 19th in the ranking.

Greece started 20th this year, so that's lower, then.

Although it depends on how you calculate the lowest. Sweden was only above 14 countries at the time, Greece was above 35 :D

It's been about 12h after the final whistle.
Has VAR managed to put the offside lines yet?

The game was unwatchable for any neutral fan.
Probably the worst UEFA final in recent memory.

I put the blame on Fiorentina for this "spectacle".
It's still a mystery to me how they passed Club Brugge 🤔
Forwards couldn't buy a goal yesterday, missing unmarked shots from 10 m. or not even hitting the ball.
Wingers that could only run up and down the line for 120', and didn't know what to do afterwards.

Well in 1960 Portugal was only 22th and Benfica won the 1960-61 European Champions Cup. Thats for sure is low.

I'm surprised Portugal would be so low back than, but are this rankings real or only theoretical? Did they exist back then?

I misunderstood your question. I thought you mean overall basing on current UEFA Country Ranking. In such a case Georgia would be unbeatable ranked #46. :wink1:

Wikipedia tells me that they were introduced in 1979.

From https://kassiesa.net/uefa/data/

The country rankings are published by UEFA since 1979. Before 1990 these rankings were only used to determine the number of berths in the UEFA Cup. In the first years of the UEFA Cup, and before 1971 in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup, teams were invited to participate. This archive contains the calculated country rankings for all previous years.

The team rankings are used for the seeding of draws. From 1994 until 1998 only for the seeding of draws in the UEFA Cup. It is unknown whether these coefficients had any meaning before that time. This archive contains the calculated team rankings for all previous years.

The country rankings before 1979 might give some insight in the relative strength of countries, but before 1965 or so they were based on very few teams and matches. The team rankings before 1998 are more or less useless.

Good one!

I tried some [simple] AI websites to ask the question above and came up with nothing! Homer Simpson is right about AI! :grin1:

Not PAOK, because they just won the league, but AEK and especially Panathinaikos.
During the 2001/2 season PAOK reached the QF of the newly created ECL (vs. OMarseille).

When asked about it, Olympiakos VP tried to downplay it by stating "who cares about the QF of the milko cup?".

Milko being a chocolate milk brand in Greece, popular with highschool students.

So, today the marketing people of the brand didn't let the opportunity go to waste, congratulating Olympiakos on winning it :mol:
