2024 Paris Olympics
It's rather strange that Netherlands only got a single bronze at the European Rowing Championships, which were little more than 3 months ago, and have now done so well here.
We on the other hand did extraordinarily well, with 8 golds a silver and a bronze. I would be surprised if that isn't our best ever performance there. This is one of those things that you can find the events available to watch online, and I think I will!

Looking at the starting list of that European Championships I don't see any Dutch athletes that are competing in Paris. Looks like we sent our 2nd team to the EC.Lorric wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 13:59 It's rather strange that Netherlands only got a single bronze at the European Rowing Championships, which were little more than 3 months ago, and have now done so well here.

Cheers @Lorric, your gymnast says no to a Chinese or Belarussian trampoline gold and takes it!

Fastest losers makes sense up to the 400m and 400h, where every competitor is in their own lane. The longer distances are more tactical. I like that it is only about placement in those races.
I wonder why? I'll have to have a look and see if our crews are the same.Witkop1983 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 14:20Looking at the starting list of that European Championships I don't see any Dutch athletes that are competing in Paris. This was a glorious GOLD for us and her. A silver in 2016, a bronze in 2020, she has finally done it, and is the first Olympic champion we've ever had on Trampoline.
It encouraged running faster in the longer races though. There's no reason they can't crawl round the track now in heats in the early laps. Guess we'll see how it goes...Witkop1983 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 14:24Fastest losers makes sense up to the 400m and 400h, where every competitor is in their own lane. Greece beats Australia by 6 and will advance as long as Serbia beats South Sudan!
And even better, Spain will be eliminated unless they beat Canada!

Another gold for British horses, GB catches USA to 9 golds!

It's GOLD in the Equestrian Team Jumping!
I checked a few crews and they matched our Olympic crews.Lorric wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 14:40I wonder why? Repechages were indroduced in 200m to 1500m and the 4 hurdle events,Witkop1983 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 14:24Fastest losers makes sense up to the 400m and 400h, where every competitor is in their own lane. Kim Woo-jin is in top form, Germany had no chance in the Archery final, another Korean archery gold!
USA holding nothing back in the heat and breaking the Mixed 4X400M Relay World Record with an enormous lead over everyone else.
I can see both arguments. I love watching middle distance as it is the most varied. Compared to the sprints you are taking your opponents into account more. Whereas for the long distance at a major champs it is too often a multi lap warmup for an 800m race - with no pacers nobody wants to risk going early and finishing well down the field if they get it wrong. Which is why Farah got his golds despite most of his rivals having faster PBs.Lorric wrote: ↑Fri Aug 02, 2024 14:42It encouraged running faster in the longer races though. So the middle distance has more intrigue. However I personally never had a kick when doing track so I like anything that encourages the fast overall pace and front running
No to Superleague
