MATCH SUSPENDED!
Decission from the NFF. The match will be continued. The date is unknown. And the match will be continued behind closed doors. I find that extremely unfair given that there's been tons of protest the last weeks. With no match being suspended. Unrelated to VAR, there was even clean fighting between fans in the Start - Vålerenga match last week. And that wasn't even close to being enough to suspend the match. Nor to punish any of them afterwards.
Rosenborg has decided to appeal the decision to play the match behind closed doors. Calling it disproportionately due to the fact that the protests came from a small group of fans. And that a collective punishment that punish every Rosenborg fans lacks legitimacy.

However, from unofficial sources I've been told that when the match was abbonded on Sunday. The NFF gave the clubs two choices. Either continue the match behind closed doors this week. Or a rematch later in the season with crowds. Both clubs choosed the latter. But the NFF seems to have backed out of that offer. And that's why Rosenborg have appealed.
It's soon three weeks since Rosenborg appealed the decision from the NFF to play the match behind closed doors. The match is supposed to be played in exactly one week. But the NFF has still not processed the appeal from Rosenborg. Rosenborg has even tried contacting the NFF to get an answer. But no one answers them. This is so fucking classic from the NFF. I won't be surprised if they're working as hell to find any legal reasons to stay with their original decision and reject the appeal from Rosenborg. The worst fucking thing is that there's been several protest with fans throwing stuff on the pitch. Both in Eliteserien and OBOS-ligaen. Raufoss fans threw tennis balls. Lyn fans threw champagne corks. Vålerenga fans threw danish pastries. NOT A SINGLE TIME did the referee send the teams into the wardrobes like they did in the match between Rosenborg and Lillestrøm.

On a side note, in the match between Moss and Vålerenga, a group of Vålerenga fans forced their way through the away enterence and into the sold out stadium. Injuring a guard on their way. This just a few weeks after fighting broke out between some Start and Vålerenga fans on both the stands and the pitch. Have Vålerenga recieved any form of punishment? No! Was it even a topic to suspend any of the two matches? No!

Just to elaborate what kind of clowns we're dealing with here.

In an interview today, the leader of the appeal board say that he doesn't know when the appeal will be processed. But also arrogantly states that "our practice is to process appeals as soon as we have the ability to do it". Today it's three weeks since Rosenborg sent the appeal.

In another interview, the head of communications at NFF states that "If the decision is delayed, the NFF will of course, in consultation with the clubs, assess whether 21 August is too early." In short, the match can end up being postponed yet again simply because the NFF hasen't managed to make a decision!

I repeat, they've had bloody three weeks to process it!

You couldn't fucking make this up!
This afternoon, the NFF published an article stating that the appeal has been rejected. However, they also added the following info. "A protocol with written reasons for the decision will be published as soon as it is available. The NFF chooses to publish the decision itself ahead of the protocol due to the time aspect in the case." :funny:

In other words, "we still don't know if we have legal grounds to reject the appeal. But we do so anyways and hope everyone forgets about it and doesn't care about our lousy reasons once we actually publish the protocol".

NFF on the 21st of July: You guys have two alternatives. One, continue the match tomorrow behind closed doors. Or replay the match later with crowds.
Both clubs: We'll of course replay the match later with crowds.

NFF on the 16th of August: Because it was impossible to continue the match as soon as possible. The match must be replayed behind closed doors to "ensure a sporting, proper and appropriate execution of the match".

First half was among the best I've seen from Rosenborg this season. Feels very good to know that we can beat the top teams. Though Viking hasn't won at Lerkendal since 2005. Still a bit worrying that we invited Viking back into the match at the end. We had the chances to kill it off with a 3-0 goal in the beginning of the second half. Still, extremely important 3 points. And once again we can breath a little when it comes to the worst relegation fight. A win in the abbanded match vs Lillestrøm on Wednesday, and we can hopefully say our goodbuys to that relegation battle.

Kristiansund - Molde is postponed until 18 September due to the issues with the pitch at Kristiansund stadium forcing them to play their home matches in Molde. And to avoid Molde having the advantage of meeting Kristiansund at home for a second time, it was postponed until after Kristiansund stadium was playable again.

Postponed match from round 15
Wednesday 21 August
19:00 Rosenborg - Lillestrøm

The so-called fishcake match.. As far as I've understood it. The match will restart with 0 on the clock. And both teams are free to pick a new lineup. Will be extremely wierd to see an official match with empty stands again. A real flashback to the two covid season. Though even those matches had at least 200 fans.

Round 20
Saturday 24 August
16:00 Bodø/Glimt - Sarpsborg 08
Sunday 25 August
14:30 Lillestrøm - Tromsø
17:00 Haugesund - Fredrikstad
17:00 Molde - HamKam
17:00 Sandefjord - Kristiansund
17:00 Viking - Strømsgodset
19:15 Odd - Rosenborg

Eliteserien - The postponed fishcake match (Round 15)
Rosenborg - Lillestrøm 4-0
1-0 Marius Broholm 18'
2-0 Sverre Nypan 45+1'
3-0 Sverre Nypan 72'
4-0 Sverre Nypan (Pen) 78'
Highlights
Infront of an empty Lerkendal, Rosenborg put up their best performance of the season. Well, almost empty at least. In one of the open corners of the stadium, a small group of ultras had showed up to support the team through the match. And when smoke from flares filled the stadium, the match was halted after just two minutes. Quite ironic considering the reasons for the closed doors. Lillestrøm had 10-15 minutes after Rosenborg had taken the lead where they probably had deserved an equaliser. But other than that it was all Rosenborg. And in the second half it seemed like Rosenborg was playing just for fun. While Lillestrøm just wanted to go home as soon as possible.

This result sent Rosenborg to the top of the home table. With 22 points in 10 matches. Though with one match more played than Bodø/Glimt (21 points). While we're 15th on the away table with only 5 points in 9 matches. So it's quite clear where Rosenborg has had its problems this season. I feel the last two matches might be a turning point of this season. These two wins is the difference between having to fight against relegation the last third of the season. And now dream about catching up with Fredrikstad and/or Molde. I also feel like we have a somewhat favorable schedule left. Both home and away.

Sorry if the question has already been answered somewhere in the thread @Kjello , but why is it called the "fishcake" match?

That name amuses me because I didn't even know of the existence of fishcakes until I went back to Norway early last year. My little nephew apparently eats a lot of the stuff at the kindergarten and so did I during my 3 months there, hah.

Oh, it was the VAR protest itself, thanks.

I remember eating some sort of corndog when I attended the 2019 Vålerenga - Haugesund match, don't remember seeing fishcake on the menu but maybe I didn't pay enough attention.

I wish I could've attended some football the last time, but I was in Oslo from January to April, so slim pickings there. Just the act of going out is challenging, especially with a toddler.

1-0 Jostein Gundersen 19'
2-0 Andreas Helmersen 38'
3-0 Ulrik Saltnes 72'
4-0 Jens Petter Hauge 74'

Lillestrøm - Tromsø 0-1
0-1 Vegard Erlien 23'
Highlights
It's been a rather cahotic week for Lillestrøm. First they lost in the last second vs Strømsgodset last weekend. Then they were outplayed and trashed by Rosenborg at Lerkendal. Then the interim manager stepped down. Making it the thrid time in a row they end up changing with a different manager just after being at Lerkendal. Geir Bakke surprisingly left for Vålerenga last summer just days after winning at Lerkendal. Andreas Georgson surprisingly was signed by Manchester United as a set peice coach after the cancelled fishcake match in July. And now, Robin Asterhed who had agreed to manage the team the rest of this season. Either stepped down voluntarily or was forced to step down on Thursday.

The same day it was known that Lillestrøm wanted to sign Sandefjords manager Hans Erik Ødegaard. The father of the more famous Arsenal captain. However, Ødegaard even turned down to talk to them. Friday afternoon it was announced that Dane David Nielsen was signed as the interim manager for the rest of this season. However, this weekend he was busy working for Danish TV 2 with the Superligaen. So he will only start working for them on Monday. This ment that the head of the academy Toni Ordinas would manage the team against Tromsø. So in the last 14 months, Lillestrøm has had 7 different managers.

Over to the actually match. Lillestrøm was quite dominant. But while Lillestrøm wasted chance after chance. Tromsø scored on their first of only two chances in the match. And got three extremely important points to step away from the worst relegation battle. After the match fighting occured when Vetle Skjervik who joined Tromsø from Lillestrøm this winter decided to celebrate towards the Lillestrøm ultras. Resulting in a red card for Lillestrøms goalkeeper coach. With both Haugesund and Sandefjord winning, Lillestrøm suddenly find themselves in direct relegation. And I wouldn't be surprised if that ends up being the end result either. I hope not though. Lillestrøm bring so much more to Eliteserien than the other teams down there.

Odd - Rosenborg 1-3
0-1 Noah Holm 26'
1-1 Torgeir Børven 50'
1-2 Marius Broholm 65'
1-3 Marius Broholm 85'
Highlights
Rosenborg won away! On an artificial pitch!
Rosenborg was pretty dominant from start. And Noah Holm put the ball into the net after only a minute, but was offside. In the 26th minute Holm once again put the ball into the net. But unaware of a Odd defender behind his back, Holm didn't really celebrate much believing he once again was offside. But the flag never came, and a short VAR check confirmed the goal. In the 36th minute Torgeir Børven thought he had equalised against the club he had a really short spell at back in 2020. But it was it was flagged for an offside. But over to the second half, Børven got his goal. Sheriff Sinyan played a long ball towards the Rosenborg box. Defender Mikkel Ceïde choosed to go up to clear it rather than to let it go over him and out to a goal kick. The clearence fell straight into Børvens feet to score on a great volley shot. Rosenborg should have gotten a penalty in the 58th minute when Jesper Reitan Sunde was tackled in the penalty area by Odds Espen Ruud. However, neither the referee nor VAR made any signs to call for a penalty. Rosenborg continued to dominate the match. Emil Ceïde found Marius Broholm just outside the penalty area. Broholm took the ball with him into the penalty area. Although going away from the goal. But at just the right time he turned and had a perfect hit with his left foot placing the ball back into opposite corner of the goal. A real beauty! 20 minutes later it was once again Broholm and Emil Ceïde. First Broholm made a crosser over to Ceïde on the left wing. Ceïde attempted to shot, but was blocked by Sheriff Sinyan. And the ball ended up going back to Broholm on the right wing. Broholm took the ball down, waited for the defender to come closer. Before he got the ball on his left foot and once again shot it into the opposite corner. Once again a real beaty!

In the end a really deserved win for Rosenborg. And now I can't wait to take on Molde next weekend. Lerkendal will be on fire. Ticket sales are already quite good. So I won't be surprised if it end up being close to sold out. And for the first time ever, the ultras stand has been expanded to include the whole west stand. And not just the upper west stand like normally.

Swap Fredrikstad with Rosenborg and you have Norway's strongest 5-team delegation to Europe possible.

Viking or Brann 2nd is actually ideal rather than Molde - Molde can survive ELQ, while Viking and Brann need the "cushions" from CLQ2.

Yeah probably the strongest set up. These 5 could all be capable of doing well in Europe. Rosenborg still has some rebuilding left to do and Viking can be a bit unpredictable and they might have to add a bit to their squads. Brann can pick up some cash and experience this season if they can knock out Astana. It wouldn´t hurt them. Molde and Bodø/Glimt are already rigged to have a competitive European run.
