Knockout stage bracket
I don’t believe in coincidences, but what to think of:
Group A and B are won by South American teams
Group C and D by European teams
Group E and F by Asian countries….
Group A and B are won by South American teams
Group C and D by European teams
Group E and F by Asian countries….
Among the 6 groups, 5 were won by the seeded teams, the exception being Group B, with Brazil finishing above France.
UEFA were the only confederation to have all 5 of them qualifying for the knockout stage, while OFC were the only one to have both their teams knocked out. AFC and CONCACAF both had 3 out of 4 qualify, CONMEBOL had 3 out of 5, and CAF had 2 out of 4.
Four teams finished with 0 points and 0 goals scored. Australia and Morocco both conceded 6, Costa Rica conceded 12, and the worst of all Fiji conceded 29. New Zealand also lost all 3 games but at least scored 2 while conceding 13.
Venezuela were the only team which finished 4th in their group but got 1 point. Ghana and Paraguay both had 3 points to finish 3rd, but not enough to make it to the next round.

FIFA and the Local Organising Committee of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Colombia 2024 have announced a change to the kick-off times for the quarter-final matches to be played on Sunday 15 September in Cali.
With the aim of offering four different kick-off times on a non-working day, and the positive impact this could have on ticket sales and the promotion of the tournament, the following changes have been made to the kick-off times: match number 48, originally scheduled for 14:30 local time, will now start at 16:30, and match number 45, previously set for 18:00, has been pushed back to 20:00.

well yeah, that's what I know too from flashscore.
But how did this happen? This is quit a turnaround in the last minutes. How could this happen, was it a lucky shot (twice) or was the German 2-0- a lucky shot...
You can watch the highlights at FIFA+.
It was a remarkable comeback!

The FIFA youtube channel also has highlights of every match: https://www.youtube.com/fifa
It is a bit of a cliche, but perhaps somewhat true that teams which believe they can come back even when they are trailing late in the match will remain positive and thus have a much better chance of doing so. While on the other hand, teams that don't have "belief" will choke up leads because they will panic when they start to concede goals (just look at Everton).
Yes, Dutch also never gave up. That’s how they managed to win from France and Colombia in 120 minutes.( plus practicing penalties ). Last European team standing.
Though I don’t see them winning the title, they so clearly lost from Korea..
Interesting match : US -North Korea, makes me think of ‘Chess’

Netherlands already at least matched their best result, which they achieved last edition as they finished 4th in 2022.Ricardo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 07:59 Yes, Dutch also never gave up. The other three semi-finalists are all former champions: USA 3 times (2002, 2008, 2012), Korea DPR 2 times (2006, 2016), Japan 1 time (2018). The other two former champions, Germany (2004, 2010, 2014) and Spain (2022) were both knocked out in the quarter-finals. And with Spain eliminated, we still have yet to see a successful title defence in this competition (2020 tournament cancelled due to COVID).
