Still ECL? CoL? Are three distinct two-letter acronyms for the three competitions too much to ask for?
Swiss System for Europa League and Conference League

This new Swiss system is best suited to strong clubs with bad coefficients, let's say next season it will probably be Aston Villa, Brighton, Girona, Bilbao, Sociedad, Bologna, Stuttgart, Freiburg, Monaco, Nice, Brest, etc. These clubs have large the chances of falling into the groups of death according to the old system, while under the new system there are no more groups of death, but only one group and the coefficients are not so important. On the other hand, clubs with high coefficients from weaker leagues will have a much more difficult task to advance to the Top 24, or Top 16, because they will lose the advantage of high coefficients in GS.
And maybe country protection. However, immagine team 1 is from england, just like teams 15 and 16. Such clash is impossible to avoid.fruki wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 15:17 btw probably the primary reason for the bracket having pairs drawn (1/2 vs 15/16) instead of fixed (1vs16 and 2vs15) is so they can avoid politically forbidden clashes without inventing new rules. Which they'll have to do if 2 of those pairs end up in the same bracket pair, but that's very unlikely to happen.
There will be no country protection in the knockout rounds after the league phase.perica wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 02:17And maybe country protection. EDIT. Found the answer. League protection applies unless the draw is impossible otherwise. It’s also further determined that you can only draw two teams from the same association.
Apologies if it was mentioned here before, but just want to know why there are only 6 league matches in Conference League as opposed to 8 in the other 2 competitions?
Best answer I have heard is so teams in ECL will collect less points than teams in the other two competitions.
It is to limit the number of games clubs have to play because - unlike in the Champions and Europa - every club has to play at least one qualifying tie in the Conference.
Thank you both, my assumption was that all clubs will need to go through qualifiers which is now confirmed.

Comparison between previous format an this: past season each matchday in GS in this forum had between 12 and 24 pages.
Now we more matches and supposedly more interesting matches we barely have any action with 7 to 9 pages in previous days, only 2 today. I think it shows how interesting these matches are.

Real Madrid and City both lost today and we barely had any activity, I think this has to more with the loss of some usual posters in the forumrpo.castro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 22:50 Comparison between previous format an this: past season each matchday in GS in this forum had between 12 and 24 pages.

ultra is the GermanyFourWorldCups guy. Lubomir was also here with a new account but he's gone again, I think. At least AZ returned in the domestic cup thread.rpo.castro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 00:27I only noticed the absence of buggy but ultra2013 and Lubomir are offline since a long time.ngfsmg wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 23:50Real Madrid and City both lost today and we barely had any activity, I think this has to more with the loss of some usual posters in the forumrpo.castro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 22:50 Comparison between previous format an this: past season each matchday in GS in this forum had between 12 and 24 pages.

You prompted me to create a new poll on this matter, i'm curious to see the resultsrpo.castro wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 22:50 Comparison between previous format an this: past season each matchday in GS in this forum had between 12 and 24 pages.
