Women's Nations League: League stage draw
Monday, November 4, 2024

The draw streamed at 13:00 CET on Thursday will set the groups for the three leagues.

The league stage draw for the second edition of the UEFA Women's Nations League will be streamed live from Nyon at 13:00 CET on Thursday 7 November.

The 53 participating teams (including Gibraltar and Liechtenstein, both entering their first senior women's competition, contributing to a record entry) are divided into three leagues (two of 16 and the other of 21) on the basis of the 2024 Women’s European Qualifiers overall phase rankings.

https://editorial.uefa.com/resources/02 ... nkings.pdf

The league stage will determine which four teams progress to the finals (which will now be played as two-legged ties) and also promotion and relegation between the leagues ahead of the European Qualifiers phase for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.

The four League A group winners will contest the UEFA Nations League finals.

Automatic promotion and relegation will see the group winners of Leagues B and C promoted, while the fourth-placed teams of Leagues A and B, as well as the two lowest-ranked third-placed teams of League B (27 to 28 in the overall league rankings), are relegated.

Promotion and relegation matches, played on a home-and-away basis, will be disputed by the third-placed teams of League A and the League B runners-up for a position in League A, while the two best-ranked third-placed teams of League B, ranked 25 to 26 in the overall league rankings, will play the two best-ranked League C runners-up, ranked 39 to 40 in the overall league rankings, for a position in League B.

How the Women's Nations League draw works
The draw starts with League C, followed by League B and League A.

League C: Three groups of four teams and three group of three teams

Based on the 2024 Women’s European Qualifiers overall phase rankings, the 21 teams are divided into four draw pots as follows:

Pot 3: North Macedonia, Estonia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Cyprus

To minimise teams' travel burden, Kazakhstan can be drawn in a group with only one of the following: Malta, Faroe Islands, Andorra, Gibraltar.

The draw starts with Pot 1, which contains six balls. The drawn teams are assigned to the groups in ascending order from C1 to C6, unless a draw condition applies.
• A first ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C1
• A second ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C2
• A third ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C3
• A fourth ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C4
• The fifth ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C5
• The sixth ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C6

The draw continues with Pot 2 and Pot 3 and follow the same rules as described above for Pot 1.

The draw continues with Pot 4, which contains three balls. The drawn teams were assigned to the groups in ascending order from C1 to C3, unless a draw condition applies.
• A first ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C1
• A second ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C2
• A third ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group C3

Pot 2: Serbia, Ukraine, Northern Ireland, Türkiye
Pot 3: Croatia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia
Pot 4: Romania, Belarus, Greece, Albania

Based on UEFA Executive Committee decisions valid at the time of the draw, Ukraine and Belarus cannot be drawn in the same group.

The draw starts with Pot 1, which contained four balls. The drawn teams are assigned to the groups in ascending order from B1 to B4, unless a draw condition applies:
• A first ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group B1
• A second ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group B2
• A third ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group B3
• The fourth ball is drawn and the team assigned to Group B4

The draw continues with Pot 2, Pot 3 and Pot 4 and follows the same rules as described above for Pot 1.

In men’s NL the 4 pot 1 teams are the 4 finalists from last tournament, why is this different for women?

Why Italy in pot 1 rather than Netherlands? Everyone will hope for Italy from pot 1!

Because Women's European Qualifiers are kind of Nations League with promotion and relegation but without a finals. This is different from men's NL.

Still getting fucked over by what happened in the last Nations League. At least we'd probably have to beat Spain at some point anyway. But would have been more likely to beat them in a single game than over a 6 game GS.

Finalists will probably be Germany, France, Spain and Sweden.

I think 1 and 3 could see upset but I am optimistic France make it to finals again and hopefully win trophy this time.

You had opportunity to qualify to pot 1 in Euro Qualifiers.

I don’t like the system either but we beat you fare and square.

Nations League, not the qualifiers. No issue with the results in the qualifiers. Two pot 1 teams, we lost.

We should be in pot 1. Netherlands have been returned to pot 2 where they belong.

This is from the circular letter:

7. Fixture list for the league stage of the 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League
The UEFA administration will draw up a fixture list for each group taking into account standard sporting principles, as well as standard conditions (travel distances, teams’ restrictions) and overall global football calendar considerations.
To ensure that restrictions are taken into account, associations are requested to complete the form here by 31 October at the latest. UEFA will endeavour to take the provided information into account however the final result will depend on the number of restrictions in the specific group and therefore no guarantees can be made.
Following the draw, UEFA will send the teams in each group the provisional fixture list. Any changes made to this fixture list must be unanimously agreed by all teams in the group, otherwise the list is confirmed. The fixture list procedure will be communicated in due course.

Appreciate the standard blurb but these fixtures should be easy enough. I thought they'd be out this morning.
