Thing is they didn't disguise themselves as stewards as far as I know. This might be fake news indeed.

But I do agree, I mostly wanted to mention the AZ players because frankly they seemed to think they'd just win the match with this half-cocked approach. I hear this happens a lot with Dutch teams - looking down some opponent I mean.

I think the coach is mainly to blame for this one, he fielded alot of players from the U21 team with little to no experience in the senior team, which cost them. Which is something I cannot agree with either, we are not in a position that we can just throw away matches like that.

Right, I heard that too. Very weird for a Europa League game with hundreds of thousands of Euros at stake (ballpark). I guess AZ could afford losing.

What's really weird is how do articles like this one come to light? Any evidence? Or because it is Hungary and Ferencváros it's somehow okay to make baseless accusations? Scandalous.

For me, the Europa League was the most interesting this season so far!
Not only because there was an Israeli team there (and that's where they should aim in the following seasons imo), but it also seemed the most tight to me, and the KO matches in it are very promising.

This is what UEFA had for us two days ago...

15 teams already qualified.
7 teams already eliminated.
14 teams playing for survival


If you go back to the 2023/2024 after MD5, you'll see...

How is what they had for us two days ago "more interesting" than what they had for us one season ago at an equivalent point!?

This format is absurd, it's a silly attempt to give a 7th and 8th game to a lot of teams that already had a 7th and 8th game anyway, considering that most of them survived, or had already played other games in the qualifiers.

At least next time make it 9 groups of 4, or 4 groups of 9, or 6 groups of 6.

I was not comparing the current format to the past (I agree with you on this one, I too prefer the groups format, which was more intereting imo).
I was answering to amenina, and I was comparing the current EL the contemporary CL and ECL.
For me, this season, the Europa League is the most interesting one! With some refreshing teams
