Shocking week in Europe for Bundesliga. Kompany must go.
Top 1-8: Leverkusen, Frankfurt
Top 9-24: Dortmund, Bayern, Stuttgart, Heidenheim
Below 24: Hoffenheim, Leipzig
Stuttgart with the important win. Pact of Stuttgart to be signed next week.
Red Bull finally won and now all Bundesliga teams have won at least once.

They're not gonna sack Kompany when he's top of the league. They should easily defeat dead 0pt Slovan at home. They should have a good position for a seeded playoff and then a lower placed top 8 team.

Yeah. For Leverkusen I'd say a close defeat at Atletico can happen even though they were leading and it was 11 vs 10 for some time. They need to learn how to act in games like that. Atletico is experienced in this, another dirty win for them at home. Anyway, a win against Sparta should do it, better with some goals.GermanyFourWorldCups wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 17:36 Shocking week in Europe for Bundesliga. Kompany must go.

Dortmund's result was predictable since they refused to kick out Sahin before the game. I really wanted to avoid it, but the arrogant bosses are too incompetent. They sacrificed the top 8 for no reason. Now he's gone anyway - and the top 8.
Bayern was really shocking. The same nighmare as with Pep a decade ago. High line in away games and the opponent says "thank you for all the space, you idiots". Same as in Dortmund, the bosses are unable to understand. There was a very good chance for three Germans in the CL top 8 and now it's (probably) only one, because BVB and Bayern couldn't get a fucking draw in rather easy games.
Regarding MD8, only three games really matter: Leverkusen against Sparta for the top 8 spot, Stuttgart against PSG for the playoff spot and in the EL Hoffenheim at Anderlecht, but in this case even with a win it would be difficult to get a place they need. Bayern, Dortmund have doable home games, Leipzig a doable away game. If the players have pride they should go for the 6 points at least.
For Stuttgart I'm not that optimistic regarding the possible draw "agreement". Big, rich teams want to win everywhere and they have more quality than Stuttgart. Plus German teams often fail to play smart and maybe dirty football. For some reason they hate draws, as we could see on MD7 once again.
Yeah, high line can be dangerous, expecially if your condition is not at the top.BurningStorm wrote: Mon Jan 27, 2025 10:06Yeah. I refer to Dortmund, but also to current Barca, to the past Guardiola's Bayern, to Guardiola's ManCity which lost the final vs Chelsea some years ago....
Of course the opponents know this and prepare the match to exploit the high line; this happened in Bologna-Dortmund, as confirmed by Bologna's coach.
Regarding Bayern, they have been unlucky too . Too many missed opportunities, xG was 1.77-2.42
Hope for more partecipants in the next Prediction Game

Ridiculous Dortmund: they signed Niko Kovac for 1,5 yrs.
He was decent at Eintracht, not good at Bayern (Flick replaced him and won the CL, it was such a difference), decent in Monaco, but only for a short time and he sucked at Wolfsburg. They wanted him only for the 2nd half of the season, but his condition was to sign for at least one and a half season. Maybe there is at least something like the famous "new coach effect" for the 2nd half of the season...

No surprises in the first two QF of the DFB-Pokal. Stuttgart and Leverkusen qualified to the Semifinals at home. Bremen and Red Bull likely to join them at the end of the month. Only Leverkusen could gain the Treble now. Probably they will be happy to end up with the German Cup and not being trophyless by the end of the season.GermanyFourWorldCups wrote: Mon Dec 23, 2024 09:03 DFB-Pokal Quater Final games fully set to be played on February.
Leverkusen and Stuttgart could technically get the Treble. Good luck to them.
Bremen or Arminia will be the outsider of the semifinals.

Why have they split those fixtures so far apart?

Because now there are two CL/EL weeks and with only 34 Bundesliga MD's and some 'empty weeks' it's a good option to stretch the cup games so there is more attention on every single game.
Leverkusen strikes again, Schick in the 96th minute with the 2-2 in the derby against Köln, then they won it in extra time.

It happened twice now, both in Leverkusen. First in the Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim, now in the cup game against Köln. It might be a nice to have, but it doesn't fix the problems with wrong decisions despite VAR. So I don't think we need it (and many supporters say it's 'too American' and indeed it feels like NFL), but I don't mind it.
Schick is a lethal striker, he can turn the results around in unpredictable ways...BurningStorm wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 07:56Because now there are two CL/EL weeks and with only 34 Bundesliga MD's and some 'empty weeks' it's a good option to stretch the cup games so there is more attention on every single game.

Two more penalties scored by Kane today. Since the miss against France at the World Cup he has taken 29 penalties for club and country and scored every single one.

Magdeburg finally won their first home match, 3:0 again league leader FC Köln. Wirth such a stat, you would believe that Magdeburg was fighting against relegation, potentially hopelessly.
Yet, they are currently on the 3rd place fighting for promotion, because they won impressive 9 out of 11 away games! I've never seen a team that was so much stronger away than home. But this is only one of many stories of the current 2. Bundesliga season, where the fight for promotion is insanely tight. I believe it is even possible that the first placed team will not even have 60 points at the end of the 34 game season.

Huge result for Bayern, when the stats suggest Leverkusen dominated the match. A 0-0 away to maintain the lead.

While Leverkusen and Frankfurt await the draw, great away wins by Bayern, Heidenheim, and Dortmund.
-Still Dortmund just lost 2-0 the game against the worst Bundesliga team. It's far from over in UCL. Dortmund is fully capable of being 3 or 4 goals down by the end of the first 45' next Wednesday.
-Bayern keeping one more game this hopeless trainee is irrational. Bayern with 0.05 xG is preposterous.
-Heidenheim can make history being the first Bundesliga team within the Last 16 in the Intertoto 2.0. Such a pleasing fairy tale.

Why do you want Kompany gone? The reason why Bayern didn't get a better coach was that they treated their last ones poorly. Firing the next coach despite a comfortable lead in the league is nothing that makes other coaches waiting in line to be hired.GermanyFourWorldCups wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 15:52 -Bayern keeping one more game this hopeless trainee is irrational. Even if Kompany seems average to me, I doubt they can get a better one right now.

Bayern looked helpless. Yes, the result is great for them and the title win is very likely now, despite Kane's curse! But it was pure luck, could have been 3-0 or higher. Alonso did a good job BUT it was a huge mistake to bench both strikers for such a long time, with one of their strong strikers they would have scored, I think. No, they won't sack Kompany, I agree. But it's hard to be successful in the CL with this kind of football, especially in away games.
Kovac got his 2nd loss in his 2nd Bundesliga game with Dortmund. I knew he was bad, but wow. At least he won in the CL, so the opposite of Kompany (who looks good in the Bundesliga, but not so strong in the CL).
I hope Dortmund manage to get an European spot. Imagine playing a season without them.... Would hurt us a lot in the ranking. If they play EL or even CoL, I hope they are motivated enough. It depends on the coach and his attitude. Whoever their coach is by then.
