6,000 Asteras fans and 1,000 OFI fans will attend Asteras Tripolis vs OFI and 33,000 fans will attend Olympiacos vs AEK later on.

Preston North End (from Preston, Lancashire) is the only 2nd division club remaining in the FA Cup QFs. They had won the Cup in 1889 and 1938!

Both Preston and Burnley were founder members of the Football League. Indeed Preston were the first champions, winning a League and Cup double in 1888/89. This makes their fixture one of the most frequently played in English football. It is one of very few to have taken place in all four divisions. Yet yesterday was their first ever cup meeting, from what must have been hundreds of draws. Both have won the league twice, and last reached the cup final in the 1960s. Until the 1960s they were generally top division clubs, but the abolition of the maximum wage in 1961 saw teams like them from smaller towns lose the ability to compete financially with the big city clubs. Preston were relegated from the top flight in 1961, and have never returned.

The German football thread mentioned that Bielefeld are the highest team in the Bundesliga table never to play in Europe. Preston, 26th in the all time table, hold that position in England, their decline occurring just as European football arrived.
