Painful few days for Atletico Madrid: first the CL elimination after penalties against Real Madrid, then league title hopes almost finished after losing 2-4 against Barcelona a game that Atletico were leading 2-0 at 70'. Simeone and Atletico fans will hope to forget the existence of football for the next 10 days or so. Terribile double-punch.

So La Liga really decided to reschedule Barcelona - Osasuna for next Thursday despite both teams were against it. Crazy decision. Barcelona will not have a couple of key players involved with national teams, unless they can find a way came back earlier than scheduled.

Almost total domination for Barca and RM in the top 10, only one man not from them. Good to see Bellingham up there and in the XI, which is 7/11 from those two clubs.

It's absolutely insane that a 17 year old is the best player in Spain.

Messi was that for Argentina when he started, they still berate Pekerman for not starting him in the 2006 WC at (barely) 19. Owen for England at the 1998 WC, etc.

That's the LFP (Liga Florentino Pérez) for you. And Greeks complain about shenanigans in their league...

To be fair Real Madrid last week protested too, with good reason, because they were forced to play on Saturday (instead of Sunday) against Villarreal after the Atletico CL game on Wednesday.
Questionable scheduling for both Real and Barcelona.

Yeah, everybody got the memo on that one with Ancelotti complaining, and all the fans from Spanish current and former Europa/Conference League teams pointed out how those situations have been common for them playing on Thursdays and told Madrid fans to stop whining. While not ideal of course, this is very different from rescheduling a match 2 days after a freaking International FIFA date ends. That's unheard of, all leagues in the world that stop on those resume no earlier than Friday.

Confusing weekend coming up--Spain changes to so-called <summertime> on Sunday.

Jornada 29 starts Friday, 29 March and ends on Monday, 31 March. The time change occurs on Sunday, 30 March,

29 March

Real Soc 2, Valladolid 1 At 23, Oyarzabal gives La Real the lead--1-0. And thus it is at the half. Goal attributed to Gómez makes it 2-0 for la Real at 68.´At 93, Latasa heads in for the visitors--2-1. That is the final.

Espanyol 1, Atletico 1 Under way. At 38, Azpilicueta scores for Atleti with a shot from WAY out--0-1 :!: And still 0-1 at the half. 30,559 on hand. At 71, Puado converts a pk for Espanyol and i-i is now the score. Not what Atleti wanted: they figure to drop further off the lead.

Alavés 0, Rayo 2 At 2, Pathé Ciss gives Rayo the lead--0 1. At 14, Jordan of Alavés takes a pk, but his Panenka is saved by Batalla. Halftime. Dream on, Alan--if Rayo wins this game, they will be in 7th place :!: 18,338 on hand. At 58, Pedro Díaz scores for Rayo--0-2. Rayo holds on to the win :!: Alavés is above the drop on GD.

Real Madrid 3, Leganés 2 At 32, Mbappé converts a pk--1-0. Two minutes later, Diego García makes it 1-1. At 41, Raba gives Lega the lead--1-2 :!: And Lega leads at the half :applause: :exclamation: Bellingham puts in a rebound at 47--2-2. 73,641 reported on hand. At 76, Mbappe scores a likely winner--3-2. And that is the final--el Real trails Barça only on GD . . . but Barça plays tomorrow.

30 March

Getafe 1, Villarreal 2 First up on Sunday. At 15, Ayoze Pérez gives Villarreal the lead--0-1. At 29. another Pérez scores to tie it for Getafe--1-1. At 33, Barry puts Villarreal back ahead--1-2. Halftime. And 1-2 is the final.

Barça 4, Girona 1 Barça leads Real Madrid by only GD for the top spot. Can they get a three-point lead by winning this game :?: Tough to find a goal :exclamation: At 43', Krejci of Girona scores an own goal; 1-0 for Barça at the half. 48,258 on hand. At 53, Danjuma scores to tie it--1-1. At 61, Lewandowski special and 2-1 on the scoreboard. At 77, it is Lewandowski again and 3-1 At 86, Ferrán Torres makes it 4-1. And that is the final.

Athletic 0, Osasuna 0 Same hour as Valencia-Mallorca :!: Coming right up :!: Scoreless first half. And ditto second half.

Valencia 1, Mallorca 0 Also coming right up :!: Scoreless first half. Diego López gives Valencia the lead at 50. Valencia holds on to win and is now more than a game above the drop.

Betis 2, Sevilla 1 Today the final game is the Sevilla derby. At 17, Vargas gives Sevilla the lead--0-1. At 25, Cardoso volleys in to tie 1-1--a great goal :!: At 45 + 3, Cucho gives Betis the lead--2-1 at the half. 58,538 on hand. Betis holds on to win.

31 March

Celta 1, Las Palmas 1 Noon today if you live on the west coast of USA. Goals by Alfon at 45 + 2 for Celta and Moleiro at 48.

Apologies for errors :grin1:

Great semifinal Real Madrid - Real Sociedad 4:4
Could have been 10:10. Both teams with questionable defenses and goalkeeping, but still a great spectacle to watch.

Jornada 30 starts today

Fri. 4 April

2100 Rayo 0, Espanyol 4 Kickoff coming right up :!: Cabrera heads in off a corner--0-1 for Espanyol. At 16, Roberto makes it 0-2 for the visitors. Rayo looked awful in the first half, and the deficit could have been much worse. Can Rayo put something together in the second half :?: At 72, Puado converts a pk to make it 0-3. At 90, Pere Milla makes it 0-4 for Espanyol. And that is the final.

Sat. 5 April

1400 Girona 0, Alaves 1 Kickoff coming up! Alaves probably needs something to avoid falling into the drop. Scoreless first half in Montilivi. At 61, Carlos Vicente gives Alaves the lead--0-1. The lead holds up, and Alavés comes away with a hugely important win.

1615 Real Madrid 1. Valencia 2 Coming right up :!: Any hope for Valencia :?: At 12, pk awarded to el Real--saved by goalie. At 15, Diakhaby heads in to give Valencia the lead--0-1. :applause: And Valencia still leads at the half. :applause: 75,382 on hand. Vini Jr. puts in a corner at 50--1-1. :mol: :mol: :mol: At 95, Hugo Duro scores what proves to be the winner, I think assisted by Rafa Mi. WOW :applause:

1830 Mallorca 1, Celta 2 Valgent at 17 gives Mallorca the lead; Alfon. at 53 and Fernando Lopez at 72 give Celta the lead, and, in the fullness of time, the win :!:

2100 Barça 1, Betis 1 Game of the day. Gavi scores early for Barça--1-0. At 17, Natan ties it for Betis--1-1. Tablas at halftime. 47,043 on hand.

Sun. 6 April

1400 Las Palmas1, Real Sociedad 3 First up today :!: Canaries will still be in the drop, even with a win. At 5, Oyarzabal puts in a rebound--0-1. Halftime. 22,616 on hand. At 56, Sergio Gomez makes it 0-2. At 61, McBurnie cuts the margin to 1-2. At 68, Aramburu makes it 1-3 for La Real. At 88, Take Kubo makes it 1-4 . . . but offside on the play annuls the goal. 1-3 is the final.

1615 Sevilla 1, Atlético 2 Kickoff soon. At 7, Agoumé scores the goal of the week--1-o for Sevilla. At 23, Julian converts a pk to tie the score--1-1. Halftime. 34,605 on hand. At 83, Barrios scores for Atleti . . . Can they hang on :?: Yes, they did :!:

1830 Valladolid 0, Getafe 4 At 1, Arambarri gives Getafe the lead; at 19', Getafe makes it 0-2. Terrats scored both the second and the third for Geta. And Valladolid is down to ten. Halftime. 17,137 on hand. Domingos Duarte makes it 0-4 at 80.

2100 Villarreal 0, Athletic 0 Gotta think Bilbao is the favorite here, so I will root for the yellow sub. :grin1: Scoreless first half. 19,158 on hand. Villarreal has a goal disallowed at 75. Gueye sees a red card about 83 and Villarreal will finish at least a player short. Game ends scoreless.

Mon. 7 April 2100 Leganés-Osasuna

The league ended today as expected. It was more a question of when not if the white circus will fail.

I dont think i have seen a worse version of this defence in years.

A one match ban for the Mbappe red is a joke. I thought it should be 3 and that I was being generous giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was an awful foul but I wasn't fully convinced he was deliberately trying to hurt the guy.

Smacks of just not being able to be bothered with locking horns with Real Madrid. But the more you give way to this sort of thing, the more liberties they will take.
