2025 Concacaf Gold Cup
Guatemala slide in to just about get a cross over the line and lead on away goals.
If you can turn it around, there won't be any of them in the Gold Cup, and I'm not sure I remember that happening even with 12 teams, there always seemed to be one.mspm89 wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 02:07T&T are a much better option, yes. I'd only favor Cuba against the pseudocountries.Lorric wrote: Wed Mar 26, 2025 01:57 1-0 HT. I've seen enough from V+G to think they could score here, but Jamaica the better team as you'd expect. Suriname picked up another 0-1 win, and @mspm89 will be happy with the 4-0 win of T+T, no Cuba at the Gold Cup this time.
Speaking of whom, one of them is currently knocking us out. Still more than half the match left, but I'm not optimistic.
I checked, it last happened 2015. Moved this to the correct thread.
Someone tell Costa Rica to leave poor Belize alone.

And with an own goal, that should bring an end to V+G's hopes, 2-0.
It's over, Guadeloupe goal. We're still being humiliated by this f*cking island.
There was time for Jamaica to bang in another. 3-0 FT. Steve McClaren will coach in a continental championship, 16 teams like the one he failed to qualify for.
Guatemala sub with his first touch and his first international goal scoring on a cutback, 2-0, they should be going through here.
Guyana keeper red for handling outside the box.
Belize scored!

Belize scored!

This elimination might be a blessing in disguise. We've beaten better rivals than Guadeloupe, but never in a Gold Cup and, in do-or-die matches, the only somewhat recent example that comes to mind is that playoff against Haiti. So maybe we have been spared another sad 0-0-3 in a Gold Cup. Until we start knowing how to play these kinds of matches, we won't stand a chance of doing a decent GC.

Quite an achievement by the "Golden Generation" to drop to 4th in the CONCACAF ranking. Costa Rica in 5th aren't too far behind...

Elo ratings has them 4th as well and a wretched 41st in the World. Panama are a single point ahead in 40th. Mexico are the best in 23rd, Canada 29th.

Disgusting to see invited teams in qualification-based tournaments. In Copa America I can understand.
