Arsenal up high.

Lyon down low.
Arsenal have turned into superstars when I've watched them this season. But Lyon showing warning signs now, attacking well, still a lot of football ahead against the second best team in Europe...
Chelsea are the only club to have both the men's and women's teams in the CL final in the same year, in 2021 (the men won while the women lost).Lorric wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 19:35 We could have Arsenal vs Barcelona in both male and female Champions League finals, with both Arsenals beating Real Madrid in the quarters and the Champions of France in the semis. Barcelona could sweep both CLs and the Youth League.
A big thank you to Arsenal, but they did it for themselves as that 2nd place should go to them. Unless of course they actually win the CL, so they wouldn't need it at all! Hope Barcelona underestimate them after beating Chelsea like that.amenina wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 20:00 Semi-final second leg result
Lyon 1-4 Arsenal
Arsenal won 5-3 on aggregate.
Arsenal returned to the European women's club final, after their win in the 2006/07 UEFA Women's Cup as the only English champions.
And this result also confirms England finishing 2nd place in the UEFA association coefficient ranking. So next season's top two in the Women's Super League (together with the French league) will both earn a direct place in the 2026/27 UWCL league phase.
Like the men's CL, the coefficient ranking determines the qualification berths of the NEXT domestic league season. The qualification berths of THIS domestic league season have already been decided. Arsenal can qualify for the league stage of next season's UWCL if either 1) They win the UWCL by beating Barcelona in the final, or 2) They overtake Chelsea for the WSL title. If they do neither, they will have to start from the qualifying rounds (either league path Q3 two-legged ties if they finish 2nd in WSL, or league path Q2 mini-tournament if they finish 3rd in WSL).Lorric wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 20:10A big thank you to Arsenal, but they did it for themselves as that 2nd place should go to them. Argh, I should know better than that. Getting caught up in the excitement. Just have to go win it then!amenina wrote: Sun Apr 27, 2025 20:20Like the men's CL, the coefficient ranking determines the qualification berths of the NEXT domestic league season. And it should be noted that Arsenal reach the final from the first qualifying round mini-tournament, and will play their 15th match of this European season in the final.
