Arsenal up high.

Lyon down low.

Arsenal have turned into superstars when I've watched them this season. But Lyon showing warning signs now, attacking well, still a lot of football ahead against the second best team in Europe...

Arsenal stole the ball when a defender slipped in the Lyon penalty area, Foord scored for a 5-2 aggregate lead.

We could have Arsenal vs Barcelona in both male and female Champions League finals, with both Arsenals beating Real Madrid in the quarters and the Champions of France in the semis. Barcelona could sweep both CLs and the Youth League.

Lyon pulled one back through Dumornay, so Arsenal's aggregate lead reduced to two, 5-3 on aggregate.

Chelsea are the only club to have both the men's and women's teams in the CL final in the same year, in 2021 (the men won while the women lost).

Semi-final second leg result
Lyon 1-4 Arsenal: https://www.uefa.com/womenschampionslea ... d-with-st/

Arsenal won 5-3 on aggregate.

Arsenal returned to the European women's club final, after their win in the 2006/07 UEFA Women's Cup as the only English champions.

And this result also confirms England finishing 2nd place in the UEFA association coefficient ranking. So next season's top two in the Women's Super League (together with the French league) will both earn a direct place in the 2026/27 UWCL league phase.

Maybe Chelsea aren't the best team in England. Will be interesting to see how they do against Chelsea with Slegers at the helm from the start next season. She came in with Arsenal 8pts behind Chelsea, they're currently 6 behind. She did lose to Chelsea in the league, but it was the away game. The home game had already been played. Knocked out of the cups by other teams. Let's see how they do vs Barcelona.

A big thank you to Arsenal, but they did it for themselves as that 2nd place should go to them. Unless of course they actually win the CL, so they wouldn't need it at all! Hope Barcelona underestimate them after beating Chelsea like that.

Like the men's CL, the coefficient ranking determines the qualification berths of the NEXT domestic league season. The qualification berths of THIS domestic league season have already been decided. Arsenal can qualify for the league stage of next season's UWCL if either 1) They win the UWCL by beating Barcelona in the final, or 2) They overtake Chelsea for the WSL title. If they do neither, they will have to start from the qualifying rounds (either league path Q3 two-legged ties if they finish 2nd in WSL, or league path Q2 mini-tournament if they finish 3rd in WSL).

And it should be noted that Arsenal reach the final from the first qualifying round mini-tournament, and will play their 15th match of this European season in the final.

Argh, I should know better than that. Getting caught up in the excitement. Just have to go win it then!

Thanks.

Arsenal are the only side to have got from round 1 to the semi-finals in this format, and became the first team to play 14 games in a single UEFA women's club season, breaking Lyon's record of 13 from 2021/22. The final will be their 15th match this season.

So the only positions to decide in the coefficient ranking are the 1st and 2nd places, which while having no benefits in the access list, are good for bragging rights.

If Arsenal win the final in 90 minutes or in extra time without the need of penalties, England will claim 1st place over France.

Difficult to imagine Arsenal doing what they did yesterday afternoon after the embarrassing 2-5 defeat at home to Bayern in the group stage. Will be big underdogs in the final, but it is probably better to play Barcelona over 1 leg rather than two and Arsenal should probably just be brave and have a go.
