Thursday title race:

Šibenik 0-4 Dinamo

A one-sided match from the start, a training match for Dinamo against a basically surrendered Šibenik (whose players received €0 in 2025). They get closer to Hajduk and Rijeka (-3 and -4)

Auf Wiedersehen Šibenik.

Now we just have to wait if it will be Opatija or Vukovar that will replace them.

This title race is just farcical. A bit like the Polish one, but in the Ekstraklaasa you expect any team being able to defeat any other on a good day, whereas in Croatia there's supposed to be a clear divide.

Šibenik are in even bigger trouble.

They owe around 400k altogether to their 2 last managers whom they fired and will accordingly get deducted 2 points (a point per manager) every match they play until they pay the debt or settle an an agreement with the managers. If they don't pay the debts, even if they win every match until the end (5 of them), they are mathematically relegated (they would have 33 points, same as Lokomotiva but Lokomotiva has the H2H advantage).

They expressly payed the debt :grin1:

Doesn't explain how the players aren't getting paid then...

One of their last 2 managers, Mario Cvitanovic, said that he was not paid. And that there was no deal regarding postponing the payment.
Sibenik's major competitor for the 9th place is Lokomotiva. And Lokomotiva's new coach is - guess who - Mario Cvitanovic.
Since his managerial qualities are suboptimal, his major contribution for Lokomotiva's success will be his salary claim from Sibenik :)

What the hell is wrong with these teams? DZ beat Rijeka 1-0 and Hajduk get beat by 8th Osijek 2-0 in the league. DZ 1pt behind both now. They can knock Hajduk off the board when they play them next, that just leaves Rijeka they need one more favour.

You morons, don't either of you want to win the damn title?!

Rijeka I understand was severely weakened in January with key players sales and are punching above their weight since just by staying in contention.

Hajduk is just a bottler team who can't win when it matters.

Thanks for the info on Rijeka.

Well Hajduk will be put to the test soon enough, Hajduk still have their home games against both...

Hajduk gets too nervous whenever they get close to the title, they screwed up big time last year and in 21/22 never did the final step to go 1st place.

They're a psychological disaster. In the last 4 games, Hajduk got a red card in 3 of them and won 2/12 points, even an average 6/12 would probably win them a title at this point.
