2023 U17 Euro - Hungary
Unfortunate that our top seed is hosting. I'd normally think we'd still have a good chance to qualify, but this team has had bad friendly results and couldn't get top seeded out of a weak looking group. We'll just have to see.
Can hosts Turkey do a Japan on Spain and Germany?
Wow, group 2. Just on names that looks like an extraordinarily weak elite round group. Montenegro and Wales did have impressive results though, topping groups they probably wouldn't have been expected to.

Thanks to an injury time winner against Cyprus, the Republic of Ireland won Group 6 over Italy by scoring one more goal (level on points and GD) and qualified for the final tournament in Hungary.
Italy (7 pts, +4 GD, 7 GF) will await results from other groups, and will qualify as long as they are not the worst runners-up.

In the first round, Denmark lost 3-1 to England, while the Netherlands got a late 2-1 win against Northern Ireland.
The second round was today with England beating NI 2-0. Denmark was down 2-0 against Netherlands, but two late goals by Brøndby's Oscar Schwartau gave Denmark one point, so they remain alive in the tournament.
However with England on 6p and Netherlands on 4p facing off in the last round, there is of course the fear that those two sides just draw each other through, if it seems that 5p +1 is enough for NL to be among the 7 best 2nd placed teams.

Since the runner-up in Group 7 cannot have more than 5 points and +1 GD, any team which have at least 6 points and are assured of a top two finish have qualified for the final tournament in Hungary;
Group 3: England
Group 4: Germany
Group 6: Republic of Ireland (qualified after winning group two weeks ago), Italy (assured of qualification after today’s results)
Group 8: France
(Note: Portugal in Group 5, despite having 6 points, are not yet qualified due to the possibility of finishing third in a 3-way tie)

Good, so while I don't think they would anyway, there is no reason for England to collude.
Netherlands beat England 1-0 to win the group. Denmark beat NI 4-1 in the other game.

2023 U17 EURO finals draw: Monday

In the draw at 17:00 CET on 3 April in Budapest, four groups will be formed for the finals in Hungary from 17 May to 2 June.
The UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals draw, from 17:00 CET on Monday 3 April at Hotel Ensana Thermal Margitsziget, Budapest, will split the 16 contenders including hosts Hungary into four groups of four teams. The top two in each group will advance to the knockout phase.
Hungary will be joined by the 15 teams progressing through the elite round in the finals from 17 May to 2 June, which will also act as UEFA's qualifier for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru. The five spots will be filled by the four semi-finalists, plus the winners of a play-off between the two beaten quarter-finalists with the best group stage record.
Seeding pots
Hosts: Hungary
Pot 1 (Best seven elite round group winners): France (holders), Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Spain, Netherlands, Croatia, Serbia
Pot 2 (Remaining group winners and best seven runners-up): Wales, Italy, Germany, Poland, England, Switzerland, Slovenia, Scotland
How the draw works
The hosts – Hungary – will be seeded as the first team in Group A (A1). The other 15 participating teams will be split into two pots and drawn into four groups of four teams (Groups A to D).
• Pot 1: the seven best elite round group winners (7 teams).
• Pot 2: the remaining elite round group winner and the seven best runners-up (8 teams).
• The draw starts with Pot 2 from where the teams are drawn to fill position four in each group.
• The order of the draw is as follows:
- One ball is drawn from Pot 2 and the team assigned to position four in Group A; a second ball is drawn and the team assigned to position four in Group B; and so on until Group D.
- The same procedure will apply for position three in each group with the four remaining balls in Pot 2, starting with Group A and ending with Group D.
- Once Pot 2 is empty, the draw continues with Pot 1, using the same procedure as with Pot 2 to fill position two in each group, then position one in Groups B, C and D to complete the draw.

I missed your post about the draw. Our group seems fair, two winners, two runners up. A rematch with the team that beat us, but this time they won't be on home ground...
C looks nasty, and I presume that's the group our group is paired up with. Bad news having to go through one of them to qualify for the World Cup. But it is another two winners, two runners up group.
I would have expected one of the groups between B-D to contain three group winners just by looking at them, but surprisingly not. The weak looking group A has the group winner from the second pot, which is Wales.

So Wales are probably favourites to win the group I presume.
In Game of Thrones conquerors always say to the defeated side: "Bend the knee and you''ll live". As if they weren't alive right now.
I'm smarter than it shows. Just don't want to discourage anyone.
