First two games against underdogs were a bit shaky with late goals, but playing with Haller helps a lot, as we could see now against Leverkusen. Thats why they bought him for a lot of money as Haaland replacement.
Now 12 out of 12.

In other news, Union Berlin have climbed back to the top, at least for one night. Bayern are on duty tomorrow.

Hannover 96 supporters have entered the stadium of their huge rival Eintracht Braunschweig in the night before their game against Heidenheim. They burned a "96" into the center circle and the groundskeeper couldn't remove it before the game, so they wrote "Nein Danke" (no, thanks) 4-times around the painful number, thats how it looked like before and in the game:

The derby is one of the most hateful in Germany and it was surely not the last action before the derby in March. Answer expected.

Of course it was not okay, you can not do that.. Image

Speaking of derbies... Spicy cup fight in the Hessen derby between Frankfurt and Darmstadt. A very hateful rivalry, even though the most hateful derby in the state of Hessen is of course Frankfurt vs Offenbach. Early Eintracht goal by their top striker Muani, then Darmstadt hit back with two goals. Borré scored the 2-2, which was the HT result. In the second half the bigger quality finally decided the game.

In the other game, Freiburg beat Sandhausen away with two late goals. It was 0-0 until the 87th minute.

Another derby awaits us at 20.45 CET, the small Ruhrpott derby between Bochum and Dortmund. Bochum won 5 home games in a row. Their tight stadium is a little fortress, a bit like Union's.

2/8: Nürnberg-Düsseldorf, Bochum-Dortmund

If any of the Top 6 (in bold) win the Pokal, the 7th of the Bundesliga goes to UECL. I think it's likely that happens.
Terrible from DFB to schedule Dortmund game just a week before the key UCL clash vs Chelsea.
DFB-Pokal QF: The Big 6 of Germany + Stuttgart + Nürnberg.
Moreover, the Big 6 of Germany very alive in three competitions. Is this going to finish in a treble?

European football return.

Bayern: First rival in since 2021 QF worthy to defeat Bayern. This have to be an amazing game.
Dortmund: Dortmund is in great form. A draw would be disappointing.
Ajax-Union: Union is flying right now and ultramotivated. I can see them bringing a victory from Netherlands.
Leverkusen-Monaco: Leverkusen is much better team than before the winter break. Monaco should win right now, though.

XG analysis after 20 games

Xpts ranking

What would be the table if we took into account goal chances only?

Bayern would be a comfortable leader. Should the issue of their defensive efficiency not be raised, they would be much above the other teams.

Interesting to see that Union Berlin would be a mid-table team only, but they have this incredible performance to have scored 35 goals for only 22 expected goals. Very impressive. Sheraldo Becker is the most efficient striker (7 goals for 2 expected goals only). Bravo!

At the bottom of the table, Schalke would like as miserable as their current rating suggests but they need to find a scorer. 14 goals scored for 23 expected. Difficult to compete in these conditions. They furthermore more goals than they should (same remarks for Stuttgart) whereas a team like Augsburg can rely on a great Gikiewicz to be above relegation zone.

Will Union Berlin start to feel the pressure tomorrow against a team striving for points (Schalke 04)?

DFB Pokal. Quarterfinals. From 4/4 to 4/5. One non-Top 6 team will play the Semifinals.
