Format for the professional leagues of Belgian football from 2023-24 was confirmed last week after consultation with the professional clubs. As this has direct influence on the team in the JPL and CPL for the upcoming season, here are the important details:

- Both the JPL and CPL will have 16 teams each, with the same format in the regular season (teams meet each other home and away for 30 games)
- In JPL, the top 6 will play for the title and the majority of the European places, the regular season winner is expected to still be guaranteed a European place. The teams from 7-12 will also play playoffs, with the winner taking on a team from the title playoffs for the last European place. In both Playoffs 1 and 2, the teams will meet each other home and away once more, with points being halved
- The bottom 4 teams will play in a playoff to avoid relegation. All points obtained from the regular season will be kept, with the teams also meeting each other home and away once more. The bottom 2 teams will be relegated, with the 14th place team playing a playoff against a team from the CPL. The 13th place team will retain their place in the JPL for the following season
- In the CPL, at the conclusion of the regular season, the top 2 teams will be promoted, while the teams that finish 3rd through 6th will play a series of two-legged knockout playoffs, with the winner taking on the 14th place team from the JPL. The bottom 2 teams will be relegated to 1ste Nationale.
- Other small changes are mentioned in the Croky Cup, where there is no more seeding protection in the Round of 32 where the JPL teams enter. Furthermore, the JPL teams that qualify for Europe will enter at the Round of 16. Finally, the semifinals will now be played over one leg instead of two like it is now

Another season of midtable nothingness for Kortrijk. Not exactly sure what to think of the "new" format wish they would pick a format and stick with it.
