Play to the whistle. India keeper thinks he's getting a foul and stops playing. He was wrong and Qatar put the ball in the net, 1-1.

I don't think there was a foul.

To be more clear, he thought the ball had gone out. It was just sat there, but it doesn't look like the whole ball was out. Qatar brought it back in and put it in. Would be up there as as stupid a way to get eliminated as there is, but the other game is still 0-0 so they might get away with it.

Qatar slam one in from outside the box 2-1.

Seconds later Kuwait cut open Afghanistan and lead 1-0!

It's been a winding road, but this 1-0 win sees Kuwait through.

Kyrgyz Republic got the 1-1 draw at Oman, and are officially the last team qualified for the third round.

So the number of teams for each zone are:
West Asia: 9 teams (only Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen miss out)
East Asia: 4 teams
Central Asia: 3 teams
ASEAN: 2 teams

Indonesia (who then known as the Dutch East Indies played in the 1938 FIFA World Cup), Kyrgyz Republic, and Palestine will make their debut in the WCQ Asian qualifiers final round in this recently used format since 1998 (originally 10 teams, except 8 teams in 2006, later 12 teams in 2018 and 2022, now 18 teams).

A few matches are still going on, mostly for pride, and possibly trying to get a higher FIFA ranking for seeding in the next round of WCQ or ACQ.

And Nepal finally scored! Now 1-1 vs Yemen, can they get a draw? Even if not, they should be able to avoid the "wooden spoon" of this round unless they lose by 7 goals to match Pakistan (1 goal scored and 26 conceded).

Pots for the next round should be:

Pot 1: Japan, Iran, Australia/South Korea
Pot 2: Australia/South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia
Pot 3: Iraq, Uzbekistan, UAE
Pot 4: Jordan, Oman, Bahrain
Pot 5: China, Palestine, Kyrgyzstan
Pot 6: North Korea, Indonesia, Kuwait

The only doubts (beyond Australia/South Korea) are if Iraq can overcome Saudi Arabia and if Jordan can do the same with the UAE.

Korea Republic should stay ahead of Australia in the next ranking. They both had two wins in this window, and the rankings of the opponents of Korea Republic are higher (China PR > Palestine, Singapore > Bangladesh).

Actually Nepal almost got the win. They were leading 2-1 but conceded in injury time to draw 2-2. Still a great result for them to score their first goals and get their first point, looks like the friendly match against England C pays off.

And Iraq beat Vietnam 3-1 and join Japan and Australia to win 6 matches out of 6, while Jordan upset Saudi Arabia on the road 2-1 to win Group G. Will either result affect seeding? We will find out next week when the next edition of the FIFA rankings are released. The draw will be on 27 June: https://www.the-afc.com/en/more/football_calendar.html

It would be better to use R2 ranking to seed the R3 draw.
