Kroos and Wirtz are of course in the starting team, our best players.

Nagelsmann's team in the wins against France and Netherlands:

-------------------Havertz--------- (Füllkrug could play as real number 9, depends on the opponent)
-------Wirtz -- Gündogan-- Musiala
-------------Kroos -- Andrich -----
Mittelstädt - Rüdiger - Tah - Kimmich
------------------ter Stegen----------- (Neuer will start at the Euro)

So with Neuer instead of ter Stegen:

3x Leverkusen
3x Bayern
2x Real Madrid
1x Arsenal
1x Barca
1x Stuttgart

I am stunningly chilled about this group. Every sensible person expects Scotland to finish bottom of this group, so there is no pressure whatsoever, whereas in Group E I'd expect us to get stage fright.

Prediction

1. Germany
2. Hungary
3. Switzerland
4. Scotland

Germany have home advantage, and the best players (well, Szobozlai can argue that one), but I think they'll be leaky at the back. Hungary have a good team who look very good in recent times and should have enough goals to see off the Scots and Swiss. Finally, when it comes down to the bottom 2, you still have better goal chances from Shaqiri than from the entire Scottish forwards, it's our biggest weak spot.

That said, however unlikely, am I dreaming of a famous Scottish win in the opening in a few weeks time? You bet I am! You have to be in it to have any chance of winning it, just ask Norway.

I guess I'm not a sensible person. :) I expect Hungary to finish bottom of this group based on the comparison where Scottish and Hungarian players perform week in, week out.

Some imprecision in the above described lineup:
-Gulácsi is our regular ahead of Dibusz when fit and playing
-the lineup disregards Márton Dárdai's joining to the NT. He competes with Szalai on the left side of the defence.
-Kalmár will not be eligible to play but Schäfer will be, and he starts over Styles in the middle.

The rest is O.K.

:grin1: Every sensible neutral, I guess!

Hungary I expect to win comfortably against us but I'll happily take the reverse!

Right-o!

The way Scotland plays definitely doesn't favor Hungary.
We usually struggle against northern teams.

@Michael S Collins How serious blow is Lewis Ferguson's injury to Scotland?

Changes in the Scottish first team tend to happen at glacial pace so he was being used more as a substitute, but in general I think a country our size losing a Serie A player is a loss regardless, and ACL tears are notoriously tricky for footballers.

Young Ben Doak injured himself last year and will probably miss the Euros and he is imo a major loss as a promising forward talent for a nation which still picks Lyndon Dykes.

Nonetheless the Scottish side is very strong. They might end up finishing second or third in the group. This is a tough group. There are stronger and weaker ones of course but this is by for not the weakest.

@Hoopy @Michael S Collins McTominay is back in, right? That must be a relief.

In the meantime Attila Fiola (CB, LB, DM universal player of Hungary) has suffered an arm injury and can potentially be out of the Euro squad.

He is one of the most underrated Hungarian player.

Ye it looks like he'll make it, the RB position is our biggest worry at the moment

In the meantime Denis Zakaria and Fabian Schär are out of the Swiss team. The Swiss papers are talking about a disaster.
