Netherlands is the first team not "pulling players out of nowhere" - all 26 players participated in Nations League or in Euro qualifiers. :D

France has Bradley Barcola, Croatia has Labrovic and Pjaca, Portugal has Francisco Conceição, Georgia has Gugeshashvili, Gvelesiani and Sigua, Serbia has Petrovic, Spajic, Stojic, Mijailovic and Birmancevic, Belgium has Kaminski and De Cuyper, and Czechia has Kovar, Jaros, Hranác, Vlcek, Cerv, Sulc and Matej Jurásek!

1. Netherlands
2. Austria
3. France
4. Poland

France has immense quality and even more immense arrogance, so I'm banking on them to have a failure in the Group. The Dutch and the Austrians have good teams and in a single match they can upset France. Poland to get 0-1 points.

Due to the injury of Oliwier Zych (Puszcza Niepołomice), Mateusz Kochalski (Stal Mielec) received an additional call-up for the June training camp of the Polish national team.

Jakub Kałuziński is also a new addition to the team due to injury of Bartosz Slisz (who stays with the team anyway so far).

"My official dark horses for 🇪🇺 EURO 2024 are
🇦🇹 Austria, 🇭🇺 Hungary and 🇺🇦 Ukraine

I'm starting to worry though that injuries would 🇦🇹 Austria hold back this summer"

In Alaba (captain), Schlager (defensive mid) and Schlager (goalkeeper) 3⃣ starters are basically ruled out"

me too...

Alaba is hardly to replace he organizes the defence as nobody else and is important for freekicks. However he will act as Non-playing-Captain so he is not completely out. X. Schlager is a heavy loss in midfield he can bring good impacts for offense and is very good in pressing but there are reasonable replacements but not 1:1. Goalkeeper Schlager from RBS had a very good CL season where he proved amongst the best keepers in this tournament. Replacement Patrick Pentz from Bröndby seems ok he is strong on the line and good in controlling the ball and distribution.

Group D is very strong and a 3rd place would eventually even bring England in R16 (my favourite for this time to win Euro). It is necessary to leave Poland and probably the Netherlands behind to avoid this. 2016 Austria was declared as dark horse as well and failed. In Euro 2021 Austria in power ranking was around 20 and convinced. Now they seem pretty much better and homogenous than the tournaments before.

I have currently Austria in 3rd place and advancing with 4 points. I do think that the injuries will hold Austria back. We'll see.

I think that Austria stylistically match up well against the Netherlands. They will harass the Dutch with their high press. The Dutch shwoed weaknesses lately when put under pressure. So I'm confident that Austria will get something off the Dutch. My guess would be maybe a high-scoring draw.

I have the funny feeling that the Netherlands may beat France on matchday 2.

I'm tempted to go with Netherlands - France - Austria - Poland (with 0 points) as my order for my prediction
