As excitement builds for Türkiye's EURO 2024 campaign, unfortunate news continues to emerge. Following Caglar Soyuncu's withdrawal from the squad due to injury, Enes Unal has now received a similar fate.

Enes Unal has been removed from the EURO 2024 extended squad due to a fractured big toe on his left foot, as announced by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).

In a statement issued by the TFF, it was revealed that following an examination and tests after the Turkish National Team's training session on Saturday, forward Unal was found to have a fracture in his left big toe. Due to the determination that Unal's injury will not fully heal during the EURO 2024 tournament, our player has been excluded from the Turkish National Team's 2024 European Championship extended squad.

Having worn the Türkiye National Team jersey since 2015, Unal was named the player of the year in Türkiye in 2022. During the mid-season transfer window, he was loaned to Bournemouth. Following his performance at Bournemouth, the English club exercised the purchase option, marking their return to the Premier League after a long absence.

The player's current market value, according to Transfermarkt data, is listed at $19.54 million.

1. Portugal
2. Czechia
3. Georgia
4. Turkey

Georgia to make the Round of 16 against all odds is another of my long-shots. Like Iceland and Northern Ireland 2016, they will have the biggest enthusiasm and Turkey tends to not perform in tournaments.

Otávio dismissed due to injury

Matheus Nunes was called up this Monday by Roberto Martinez for EURO 2024.

The Manchester City midfielder will take the place left vacant by the dismissal of Otávio, who was injured while playing for Al-Nassr.

Otávio was evaluated this Monday by the FPF's Health and Performance Unit, which concluded that it was impossible for the player to recover in time to participate in the European Championship in Germany.

The examinations and tests of our national football player Ozan Kabak, who left the game on a stretcher after the injury he suffered during the special match between Italy and Turkey played last night, and then took to the hospital, have been completed.

As a result of the checks, a tear was detected in Ozan's right knee anterior cruciate ligament and our 24-year-old defender was removed from the EURO 2024 squad of our National Team due to the severity of his injury.

We would like to convey our best wishes to Ozan Kabak due to the unfortunate injury he has suffered, and we wish him to return to the field as soon as possible and in a healthy way.

Curious to see if the weird Czech alternating tournaments thing continues. If so, great news for Turkey and Georgia.

1996 - KO stages (final)
2000 - group stage exit
2004 - KO stages (semis)
2008 - group stage exit
2012 - KO stages (quarters)
2016 - group stage exit
2020 - KO stages (quarters)
2024 - group stage exit?

It's a coincidence but the sort of fun football one I like.

Czechia's Michal Sadílek went cart racing down a mountain in his free time at Czechia's camp in Austria and ended up with a severe leg injury ruling him out of Euro. Czechia might call up a replacement, that will be decided probably today evening after their last friendly match against North Macedonia.

Czech NT lied for a day about the circumstances of his injury, stating first that he fell of a bike.

Sadílek was probably going to be a starter in center midfield next to captain Souček.
