Greece has 5 players who can play at this level: 3 are 30+ (Walkup, Calathes, Papanikolaou), 3 can't shoot (Giannis, Walkup, Calathes). The bench is cannon fodder, they're at the level of Britain, Estonia etc.

I read that the Seine water quality has forced a swim familiarisation session to be cancelled for the fifth time during the Olympic Games. Isn't it the role of the IOC to check these things before it awards the Games to a specific place? Why didn't the IOC move these events to Vaires-sur-Marne, east of Paris, where the rowing and canoeing competitions also take place?

Because France is paying billions. They want some city marketing in return. And yes, that’s ridiculous but it has been this way since the cost of organizing the OG has exploded to the ungodly numbers it has.

Rowing has been performed over 2000m for over a century. But in LA the rowing competition will be over a distance of 1500m because they chose venue that isn’t long enough. The IOC is fine with that…

I don't think they need to be too disappointed. I think they were 4th or 5th in the betting odds before hand. Did as expected in their group by winning all their matches, except against France. Then they were slightly unlucky maybe to get 3rd seed Denmark in the quarters instead of 4/5th seed Sweden, but the difference between these three sides isn't too big.

Excited by the Danish victory. Seemed like Reinhardt and the defense really stepped up. If Norway as expected beats Brazil tonight, then it will be a rematch. Hopefully it will be a lot closer than the 9 goal defeat in the group stage, but it will take something special to beat them.

Big Danish disappointment in the kayak. In the Women's double 500m, the Danish world and european champions were eliminated in the quarter final. First they had a really bad heat, so instead of going straight to the semis from there, they had to go the quarter final. And there they only finished fifth and was eliminated. Quite a shock as they were deemed one of the most likely medalist. And doesn't give a lot of confidence that Emma Aastrand Jørgensen can come close to anything in the singles either.
So perhaps we will need to find a surprise medal or two somewhere else, if we are to reach the Danish target of 9-11 medals.

What a joke, you've got the whole USA to pick a venue! There's no excuse. For all the problems France have had, they got the races in the Seine to go ahead.

I am rather puzzled by the over a billion France have spent to clean up the Seine. For what, so people can have a swim? I'm sure there's more to it. The river is enormous, and I know it's allowed many species of fish to return to it that couldn't live in it before.

Paris has two poor location choices: Swimming/Triathlon in the Seine and sailing in Marseille
LA already has a poor location choice too, but I hope IOC forces them to either make that location a 2000m venue or choose another venue

Hungary so close to the victory in normal time, and then melted away in extra time. 36-32 victory for Sweden. They will face a formidable opponent in the semies against France.
