Re: 2024/25 UEFA club season (Champions League, Europa League, Conference League): List of qualified teams
A question for Belgian specialists! Is it still possible for AA Gent to qualify for Champions League. Suppose: ClubBrugge - Antwerp and Union endup outside the top 2. Club Brugge wins the conference leage (-> Group Europa League, but no extra place for Belgium) Antwerp wins the cup (-> Europa Leagu...

Re: Seeding for UEFA Club Competitions 2024/25
I saw predictions for belgian teams in European football for the next season. Personaly I don't give it 1% chance that these predictions will be correct in 2 months time. Why? The Belgian play-offs are exceptionally exciting. With No. 1 Union starting with 0/6, having lost almost all of its lead, an...

Re: new coefficient calculation from 2024/25
Looks to me that these new bonus points are bringing more points on the table.
24-25 would be more important than last seasons in the calcullation for the next years.
Don't think that it would be so important for the teams, but it adds to everey game.

Re: 2023-24 Champions League: Play-off round
Well AEK disapointed me. I really thought they would exploit Antwerp's inexperience. That Antwerp would perish in the Greek atmospere. But no. No enthusiasm in the stands. Lots of possession, but few chances in the first half. But nothing more in the second. As if they were already breathed after 45...

Re: Battle for important ranking positions 2023-24
The model also indicates that falling down the leagues can be positive. Belgium did start quite poorly this season, but they are one of the biggest 'winners' in this model. Not sure if this is going to be a good year for Belgium. Club Brugge for example, can go a long way in the ECL. But in the pla...

Re: 2023-24 Champions League: Play-off round
After first leg (home % previously) AEK Athens - Antwerp 40:60 (50) No way that Antwerp is favourite in this game. AEK dominated most of the game. Antwerp managed to keep a clean sheet with the atmosphere of their fans. But next week the fanatic home crowd will be on the other side. For 3/4 of the ...

Re: 2023-24 Champions League: Play-off round
Anyone knows why one of the stands in Antwerp (the one opposite the main TV camera) is totally empty? The crowd in the other stands sounds very active and into the game. It's a long story about ownership and trust. The current owner of the club is a building contractor. He bought the club and 3/4 o...

What an evening.
If i'm not counting wrong only 3 /10 teams that qualified tonight, were seen as a possible 3th round team only a few weeks ago.

Re: 2023-24 Champions League: 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds
Servette - Genk seems to be a good game. Still 0-1 but according to radio it could have been easely 3-3. Young Vandevoorde (goes to Leipzig next year) got some really good blocks.

Re: 2023 U21 Euro - Georgia and Romania
Portugal scored from PK. Belgium player should have been sent off. If he makes the foul I follow you, but reviewed the situation 4 times and I saw nothing wrong at all. Reffery was confident dough. But the Belgians have to look at themselves. They should have scored 2 - 3 times more in these 3 game...

Re: Spreadsheet for European Cups - Feedback & Suggestions
Could you explain why Antwerp (Bel 17 points) is'n qualified for Europa Laegue group fase and Zorya Luhansk (ukr 16 points) is. They both seems to be qualified directly for thos PO, and Antwerp (with the beter ranking) should in my logic be qualified for the group. In your spreadsheet they are elimi...

Re: Battles for important ranking positions 2022-2023
After the surprisingly good performance of Brugge, it is clear that Belgium will keep their top 10 position for a while. Another good thing is that they enter the zone at club level were they should be seeded above teems like Slavia Praag, Olympiakos, Sporting Lissabon, Basel, ... . Important while ...
