Re: Austria - Football Season 2022/23

Salzburg in the EL would be better for Austria's ranking, I guess. They could bottle the CL qualification like in good old times. Salzburg not qualifying for CL through champions path is certainly "bottling" it. Salzburg not qualifying for CL through league path would be very much "u...

Re: German Football 2023-24

How about Alemannia Aachen? Not exactly a historic Bundesliga club, but I still remember them getting out of a UEFA Cup group as a 2nd division team, the madness. One of the few times the "cup runner-up spot" didn't go to waste. Is there any hope of them getting out of Regionalliga any ti...

Re: French season 2023/24

No OM in UEFA competitions is very unusual. Lyon on the other hand made it back to Europe after a terrible first half of the season. Reminds me of Dortmund in Klopp's farewell season 2014/2015. Almost at the bottom of the table and in the 2nd half they made it to the EL and also to the cup final (wh...

Re: German Football 2023-24

That's great to know! Though the part about them being rivals to St Pauli doesn't bode well for their current situation. They might as well throw the game vs Wehen. It's a coin toss whether a club will care about being division champion after it has achieved promotion. St. Pauli surprisingly won th...

Re: German Football 2023-24

So many stories. - Reus, born in Dortmund, scored in his last game for BVB at home - Leverkusen did it, unbeaten in the whole Bundesliga season (and maybe for all games in general), incredible - Hoffenheim beat Bayern (I expected it), but thank goodness Eintracht got this important point against Lei...

Re: Ice Hockey

Meanwhile Germany have almost secured their spot in the KO stages with an amazing 8-1 over Latvia. That's if we assume that two wins in regular times in the remaining three matches (France, Kazahkstan and Poland) can be taken for granted. Another 8-goal win. This time it was an 8:2 against Kazakhst...

https://i.ibb.co/8gc8WWr/043.png https://i.ibb.co/p21F8cY/452.png Final Bundesliga matchday incoming. The most interesting part is of course the fight against relegation. Köln are back in the game, but it's still very difficult. They need lets say a 2-0 in Heidenheim plus a Freiburg win with two go...

Re: German Football 2023-24

No one here would suspect you of being a commie just because you like former DDR clubs, it's even the opposite, most fan scenes in the East are politically incorrect, patriotic, against Western "values". Especially Hansa Rostock whose fans have a deep political rivalry with St. Pauli, sam...

Re: Euro 2024 Group A: Germany - Scotland - Hungary - Switzerland

Why do they need 4 goalkeepers? I've yet to see the third goalkeepers getting any time on the pitch in a major tournament. Netherlands used 3 at the 2014 World Cup. Cillesen was the main keeper, Krul came on in the QF for the penalties and then Vorm played in the bronze medal match. Ok, but they di...

Re: Battle for important ranking positions 2024-25

It is too early to make any predictions until the qualifiers are played. What can be commented on is only the Top 5 leagues, which will surely have at least 5 or 6 or 7 clubs in the LP. Italy is again the main favorite, regardless of whether they played with 7, 8, 9 or 10 clubs. Simply put, Serie A...

Re: Italian football season 2023/24

I didn't like it either, now they are even more greedy and hungry in the EL final. And unlike Atalanta, Juve won enough titles already. Now as a German I hope they also lose the EL final, but then they can win everything in Italy in the new season. Heard some Eintracht ultras were there.

Re: German Football 2023-24

As the only former Eastern German club in the Bundesliga (not that I'm a commie) for quite a while when I started watching, I have a little soft spot for Hansa Rostock. No one here would suspect you of being a commie just because you like former DDR clubs, it's even the opposite, most fan scenes in...

Re: German Football 2023-24

Holstein Kiel are promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in club history. Funfact 1: Holstein played on level 1 of the German league pyramide all along from 1903 to 1963 before Bundesliga was founded, even winning the German title in 1912. Funfact 2: Holstein will be the northernmost team ev...

Re: 2023/24 Europa League quarter-finals, semi-finals and final

Hoping for a Dortmund and Leverkusen win in the finals, I have German friends and former prominent Celtic players have history with both teams so I have a wee soft spot for them. Hopefully that's Germany's glory for the year tho and Scotland put them in their place in June 😂 hoping for an Olympiako...
