Club Brugge U23 have been added to 1B to make 8 teams
I was literally about to write that.
That's a welcomed relief. It will still mean there will need to be some adjustments to the calendar, but that makes more sense. They could have also add 3 youth teams to make 10 teams. I think that would have been slightly better, but this works fine

yes 10 teams works so much better. Anderlecht ,Genk or Standard U23 would be even better choices than Club brugge imo.dnina10 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 19:17I was literally about to write that.

Yeah, my problem with Club Brugge's youth team being the choice is that Club Brugge's U19s will be in the Youth League next season. If I'm not mistaken, they also won the U21 league last season and would be Belgium's only representatives in the competition (unless Gent makes the Champions League group stage). So, I agree with you with Standard, Anderlecht and Genk, especially the latter two who aren't in Europe at all next seasonGorandinho wrote: ↑Fri Jul 31, 2020 19:19yes 10 teams works so much better. Antwerp wins the cup, 1-0 vs Club Brugge !
Should we expect Club Brugge this year to be anything better than the usual subpar level Belgian teams not called Ghent present in the Champions League Groups?

The difference would be that Club Brugge didnt lose half of their players after winning the league. Regardless they played very very weak today.
Well, let's see how the season goes. Antwerp were the only team to beat Club Brugge in Belgian football last season. They have the squad and the coach to cause some trouble in the Champions League. We saw that this season in the group stage. One team I wouldn't count out
Charleroi in the ELGS was my first choice, but Antwerp is good too. The last EL qualifiers were quite epic for them, let's see this season in the group stage.
International break hater
Proximus League Final 2nd leg
OH Leuven 1-4 Beerschot VA, Beerschot wins 5-1 on aggregate
OH Leuven 1-4 Beerschot VA, Beerschot wins 5-1 on aggregate
Winners of that game were crowned champions (of First Division B) and they get to start a round later in the Belgian Cup.
Besides it's a bit of exercise/preparation for the sides involved, gives closure to last season and is a litmus test for a fast approaching (corona-threatened) season.
Plus, since Westerlo have intentions to go to court, they wanted to play this match to give Westerlo less leverageYAYgee wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2020 10:08Winners of that game were crowned champions (of First Division B) and they get to start a round later in the Belgian Cup.
