Bayern reaches 36 points and this is new UEFA club coefficient point record in one season. It was 35 by Real Madrid 13/14 before tonight.

Congratulations Bayern!
In the semis I wrote that it would be funny if Leipzig eliminated PSG with a goal scored by Nkunku, a PSG academy graduate.
It didn't happen in the semis, but it happened a few days later in the final, with Coman instead of Nkunku.
PSG was also impressive, maybe with Meunier and Cavani they would be the European Champions now... we'll never know.
This final was much better than last season's, when an early penalty kick ruined the game. Good job, Daniele Orsato.

Finally a new big trophy for Deutschland. When Bayern won it last time, the National Team have won the World Cup one year later, so please repeat it at the EURO.
Neuer the wall! His long injury couldn't break him. Never understood why some fans claimed he isn't top-class anymore. As long as he plays football, he is the be(a)st goalie.
Bayern were the best for the whole season and even in a normal CL season they would have won. Please no lousy excuses. It's more than deserved. Btw, Paris were really tough to play, strongest opponent in Bayern's season, a deserved finalist.

Congrats to Flick MVP. Lewandowski played like having iron in his shoes, but I hope this game has released a lot of pressure from his shoulders and he just can become a formidable monster next season. Also hope Joachim watched the game I don't want Kehrer anywhere near Die Nationalmannschaft.
Fun fact: Hansi Flick lost the 1987 European Cup final as a Bayern player against Porto. He was subbed off after 82 minutes when Porto had just scored their second goal. Bayern's coach Udo Lattek left the club at the end of that season. His successor was... Jupp Heynckes. Flick stayed at Bayern until 1990; he won four Bundesliga titles and one DFB-Pokal final.

Normally in a title win, a team will have some luck that was needed somewhere. A massive deflection or scoring from a corner that shouldn't have been given, that kind of thing. Or there'll be at least one game where they were second best but still got through. And also they won't win every game! Just enough to get through.
Bayern are different. They just attacked everyone and beat them because they were better than them. Finished all matches in 90mins. 4 goals a game average. Supremacy.
If they win the Club World Cup, they have a serious case to have the best team ever in one season.

I'm not sure if and when the Club World Cup will be played this time around...
(And to be fair, there could have a been a penalty for PSG at 73'.)

I don't think this was one of the best games I've ever seen, but was very exciting all right. Neuer saved at least 2 sitters, he was the best man for Bayern. And I think Barcelona in their prime were stronger than this Bayern, MU couldn't come even close to them in their finals - zero chance - while PSG had their massive chances here. Bayern deserved to be crowned, though.
At least the Bayern win proves that it's still possible to win the CL without spending 200M on the transfer market every new season. If they hadn't bought that ridiciously overpriced benchwarmer Luca Hernandez, FC Bayern would have even made an overall surplus from transfers in the last 24 month. Investments in good scouting, i.e. Kimmich, Davies and Coman wins trophies. Buying Neymar for 222M only increases jersey sales, that's it.
"Put it in your signature to save you the trouble of writing it over and over again."
A bit harsh on Neymar. He is an exceptional player and would improve nearly any team he is playing for. So you can't just say he isn't a worthy investment. If you have the money he is worth it. Simple as that.
And I'm saying this as a Bayern fan.
Bayern is vey well managed and it is (or should be) an example for many clubs.greenbay wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 07:51 At least the Bayern win proves that it's still possible to win the CL without spending 200M on the transfer market every new season. That said stating that Bayern won thanks to good scouting is just ridiculous. You need money to win to win the champions league, including for Bayern. By the way, as per transfermarkt Bayern spent 143 mios last season (Lucas Hernandez, Pavard, etc) in transfers vs 98 for PSG. This summer they bought Leroy Sane for 50 mios. No problem to me but please don’t say that it’s just good scouting.
Second remark, the French clubs are really upset that the German clubs (mainly Dortmund and Leipzig but also Bayern) are stealing our young players in the academies. But of course these players are leaving for the quality of life at Dortmund, Gladbach or Leipzig, not for money ...

They're not "stealing".Lyonnais wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 09:35 Second remark, the French clubs are really upset that the German clubs (mainly Dortmund and Leipzig but also Bayern) are stealing our young players in the academies. Let's take Nkunku's example, he only played 2 matches (24') in four seasons for PSG (2015/2016 to 2018/2019).
Leipzig paid 13M€ for him and in Leipzig he played 9 matches (514').
PSG decided that they're rather have 13M€ than a player that they don't intend to use.
Nkunku decided that he'd rather go to Leipzig and be a protagonist than staying in PSG where he had an insignificant role.
And of course that money is also important.
If Nkunku has an offer with a 100K€/month salary from Club Brugge and another offer with a 300K€/month salary from Leipzig, it's obvious that he'll choose the Leipzig offer. Who wouldn't?
I agree.
They signed Pavard, Lucas Hernández, Coutinho, Perisic...
This isn't "good scouting", these are some of the best players of the last World Cup. EVERYBODY knows them, EVERYBODY wants to sign them... So Bayern isn't exactly recruiting players that nobody else knows and nobody else wants.
Olympiakos for instance would also like to sign these four, they just can't spend 130M€+ in transfers like Bayern can.
So Bayern's scouts aren't "smarter" than Olympiakos' scouts, Bayern is just a lot richer and can get exactly the players they want, while Olympiakos has to live with the leftovers...

I’m not speaking about N’Kunku. Leipzig paid a transfer fee, fair enough. I’m more speaking about the U17, not yet professionals like Upamecano, Konate (it’s more Salzburg than Leipzig but it’s the same), Cuisance (gladbach), zagadou, kouassi (taken this summer by Bayern at PSG), another guy taken at Metz by Gladbach I think.
