Northern Ireland's second goal was an amazing free kick. She's hit it in the top corner from way out.

Austria equalise at 90+1, ball into the box chip headed over the keeper.

Nepal delivered another good game and got 0-0 against Hong Kong. So Hong Kong must beat the Philippines in the decider if they are to get the Asian Cup spot, which looks difficult.
Jordan and Iran have both beaten Bangladesh 5-0, so will also solely rely on their internal match to decide the group winner.
Finally, Thailand looking big favourites to win group H. They beat Malaysia 4-0 in the first game, before the Malay team went on to beat hosts Palestine 2-0.
South Korea won 4-0. Now, they can look forward to getting beat down twice in the USA in two friendlies serving as sacrificial lambs led to slaughter for the Carli Lloyd Farewell Tour. Perhaps they can do better than the previous lambs, Paraguay, who lost 9-0 and 8-0. Lloyd fed well on them, netting 6 of the goals.
Apologies to South Korea. They actually managed to get a 0-0 draw in the first game. Ending a 22 match home winning streak for the US. Though they got beat down 6-0 in the second game. The US are 62 games undefeated at home.

Wrote AFC yesterday about the weird pot allocation, and already had a response this morning. Nice with a responsive federation :applause: :applause:
Hopefully, they had already figured the mistake out themselves or by contact from one of the concerned federations, so it's not just a random forumite who caught it :D

I've said it before, I think Asia is the best confederation for organising the format of their competitions.

Funnily enough, we were talking about Myanmar, but if it was you, all you've done is remove a chance for them to draw a team they can beat.

By any chance did you check to see if the rest of the seeding was correct?

Yeah, the rest is correct. Chinese Taipei and Myanmar both finished 2nd in their qualification groups back then, so was a bit in doubt about how that would be handled. But fair enough to give it to Chinese Taipei; their results against the two teams in their group were better than that of Myanmar against the top two other teams in their group.

The CAF first round is (almost) complete.
Burundi also beat Eritrea at home, 6-0 agg to set up a giant chance for their first spot at a Africa Nations Cup with a 2nd round match-up against Djibouti.
Zimbabwe eliminated Eswatini and will be favourites in the 2nd round against Botswana, whom they beat 3-0 in the COSAFA Championship just weeks ago.
ANC silver medalists from 2018, South Africa, hammered Mozambique 13-0 agg and will face Algeria in the 2nd round (they won 14-0 in the first leg against Sudan, but the 2nd round is postponed due to the coup in Sudan)
São Tomé and Príncipe threw in the towel after their first leg 5-0 defeat to Togo, who will face Congo in a difficult 2nd round.
The last two 2nd round fixtures are Guinea-Bissau vs Burkina Faso and Senegal - Mali with the latter looking like a strong meet-up.

Not enough for the Ghana side who loses 2-1 on aggregate, so the World Cup hopes of the 4th ranked side in Africa is already over. Top ranked Nigeria with another difficult match in round 2 against Ivory Coast, who smashed Niger 20-0 on aggregate.
2nd ranked Cameroun took another narrow victory against the Central African Republic, and will be clear favourites again in their second round encounter against Gambia.
Tunisia beat Egypt 1-0 at home (7-2 agg) to set up an intersting encounter against Equatorial Guinea, the 6th and 7th highest ranked sides.
The Olympic participants Zambia won suprisingly narrow against Malawi 3-2 (4-3 agg) and will face Namibia in the second round. For Namibia, the Sevilla profile Zenatha Coleman scored all five goals in their 5-3 aggregate victory against Tanzania.
Finally Uganda won a slightly surprising aggregate victory against Ethiopia. After a 2-0 win at home, they lost 2-0 away but won on penalties. They will face Kenya in the 2nd round.
Worst drawing method ever.
In the first round, the 44 teams were drawn into 22 ties, with teams divided into four pots based on their geographical zones and those in the same pot drawn to play against each other.
In the second round, the 22 preliminary round winners allocated into 11 ties based on the first round tie numbers.

So 3 of the top 5 African teams need to eliminate each other in the preliminaries...

I see England as the favourites, but Austria got to the semis of the last Euro and England have had an extended run of weak friendly results and performances vs strong teams. I see them as a genuine threat, though after seeing them struggle and fail to beat a team England have played twice and utterly dominated, I feel a lot better about it now.

And the tournament opener. So if anyone wants a preview of the start of Euro 2022, tune in next month... :smile1:

I expect it to add spice to this match, both teams will want to put down a marker.

The AFC Asian Cup draw was also today. India got drawn into group A, where China therefore looks the favourite for the group victory. Group C looks clearly the strongest. China will play archrivals Chinese Taipei in the opening match on 20 January 2022.
QFs are A1 vs 3, C1 vs 3, B1 vs C2 and A2 vs B2. The four quarter final winners are all certain to go to the World Cup. The exact form of the repechages depend on Australia. But in the very likely scenario that Australia goes through to the semifinals, loser1 and loser3 will play, and the same will loser2 against loser4. In both these ties, the winner gets a direct spot and the loser a spot in the intercontinental playoffs.
