UEFA Nations League 2022/23
According to UEFA vice-president Zbigniew Boniek, from 2024 on, 10 CONMEBOL teams will join Nations League - 6 teams will be added to division A, and remaining 4 will join division B. Format and details are yet to be determined.

So what's the format of the playoff for Euro 2024? Are qualifiers determined by overall ranking or so group winners have priority as in previous editions?
euro2024 regulations - which are due for approval by next June - will decide that.
Hmmm. Perhaps they will add two more from B for a 24 team top tier, with one CONMEBOL team in each group. There'd be one per B group too. That would solve the problem of where to pot them. Someone's going to La Paz!
Don't know what they'd do for the finals though. Or indeed if we would play games in South America, but I'd love to see how UEFA teams would fare over there.
I've understood that there will be 22 teams in league A. And I'm not sure if CONMEBOL teams play their home matches in South America, or rather compete on European venues.Lorric wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 20:38Hmmm. 22 is an awful number. It only divides by 2. I don't know what they're supposed to do with that.Juliusz wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 21:12I've understood that there will be 22 teams in league A. This looks like a move to deter the "World Cup every two years" project. The thing i'm looking forward to is watching Bolivia and Venezuela against european sides and see how they perfom.
International break hater
Croatia's H2H record against teams in the group:
v. France 0-2-6 (:sigh: )
v. Denmark 2-2-2
v. Austria 5-0-0
Horrible record against the top seed. Perfect record against the bottom seed. Equal record against the second seed.
The draw seems fair.

Well that would sweep away the Nations League if it happened. This would be a great power move to say not only are we not giving up the Nations League, we're making it bigger and greater than ever! It would be a big statement by CONMEBOL with their nations committing their time to this competition as well, they'd then stand to lose something too.
And why not invite Australia also and maybe Korea, Japan
very interesting idea, the problem is: where will the challenges be played? will we have trips between Europe and South America?

however, difficult draw for Italy... and exciting at the same time !!
It will indeed be Italy who profit from our ban. Hungary away is our very first game followed by Germany away. MD6 is Germany at home!
Saturday 4 June Hungary v England (5pm)
Tuesday 7 June Germany v England (7.45pm)
Saturday 11 June England v Italy (7.45pm)
Tuesday 14 June England v Hungary (7.45pm)
Friday 23 September Italy v England (7.45pm)
Monday 26 September England v Germany (7.45pm)

A Simple restructure for nations league 2024 would be:
League A - 6 groups of 4 teams
League B - 6 groups of 3 teams - Last place teams play a relegation playoffs.
League C - 3 groups of 4 teams
League D - 1 group of 5 teams and 1 groups of 6 teams - best RU also promoted.
Another option which may be preferable is to merge leagues C+D and have 5 groups of 4 teams and 1 group of 3 teams, but it would mean that the minnows no longer have even matchups.
That would mean that best 2 last placed teams in League A 2022-23 are not relegated after all.
