Yeah, in august we will already know whether The Netherlands might actually be able to attack France and withhold Portugal. FC Twente and Vitesse or AZ (they play this afternoom) together have to survive 5 qualifying rounds.

Last year Vitesse elimnated the seeded Anderlecht. FC Twente won't be seeded in the play-offs and Vitesse probably not as well. It would be better if AZ manages to defeat Vitesse today, but they are 2-1 down after the first leg. AZ will be seeded in all rounds. Also almost the entire team of Vitesse will leave this summer.

For all countries from 6th place down, the most important ECL qualifiers for a good placement at the end of the season. The top 4 Portuguese clubs played a great season and collected 70.5 points, but they lost 2 clubs in the qualifiers and finished the season with a modest 12,916 coefficients.
Already by the qualifiers in August, it can be concluded who could have a great season, or who is likely to have a bad one.

France has a rather risky allocation of clubs this year as well.
Marseille is notoriously bad in CL Groups.
Nantes is an unknown in the EL.

AZ did manage to overturn the 1-2. We won 6-1 today.

It is about time to start a new thread for the 2022-2023 season but we still don't know what positions are going to be important. That is partly sad and partly infuriating...

Yes, the ECL qualifiers are crucial in my opinion. This tournament (ECL) has a lot of snowball potential in the sense that if you qualify for the group stage you are expected quite a lot of points. However ECL Q4 should not be underestimated, even as a seeded team you can draw a strong opponent and potentially miss out on the group stages resulting in a big loss of points.

In all honesty I think we should not look at France, this is a pipedream in my opinion. I think t's unlikely Ajax will perform at the same level as in previous years as I expect alot of interest for key players while a lot of senior staff (Coach, Technical director) have already left for various reasons. It remains to be seen whether Ajax can keep their current performance level. PSV is a big question mark too with lots of changes to be expected, same can be said to Feyenoord as well. Twente did well this season but from a fundamental perspective (financial situation, organisation) they are not yet at a place where you can say they're back to their position of 4th team strongest team (which they were let's say 10 years ago). AZ I do expect to improve next season, but they also have the longest path to the group stages as well.
