In that case it would also make sense for Uefa to extend the ECL from 32 to 64, so we'd have 20+20+64=104 teams internationally, compared to 96 now, and to actually make it regional conferences.

Couldn't they propose a structure like this one back in April? The reactions would have been different, but they were too greedy and stupid (or let's say arrogant).

They use the five year ranking to get all big teams inside but they still need the wildcard for Arsenal.
I hope those 3 clubs fill bankruptcy soon.

The English wouldn't agree. The English didn't agree for the money - they agreed for the security.
Perez, Agnelli and the other Spanish/Italians want the money.
The English want the guaranteed spots, so they don't have to fight for Premier League top 4 every year.
This model with only 1 wildcard is still problematic for them, especially for Tottenham and Arsenal.

UEFA got an ultimatum from a court, that they have to take back all the threats and publish it on their website in 5 days.

Edit: As predicted. https://disciplinary.uefa.com/insideuef ... madrid-cf/ :)
“Following the stay of proceedings against FC Barcelona, Juventus FC and Real Madrid CF, in the matter related to a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework in connection with the so called ‘Super League’, the UEFA Appeals Body has declared today the proceedings null and void, as if the proceedings had never been opened.”

If, and it’s a big if, this group of teams stays in the SL for two years and the teams make the money that has been mentioned then we are likely to see top teams from UCL jump ship. The reason is that non-EPL teams will not be able to keep up with these teams financially and the UCL will become and EPL+Bayern+PSG league.

Marseille, Feyenoord, Roma and Sporting already denied this and say they stay with UEFA.
Just another lie coming from Laporta

It's the Europa Super League thread! :grin1:

Even if true, what would be the point of Real Madrid and Barcelona beating up on these teams every year? Surely no threat to UEFA and a step down for them. Then again, Barcelona didn't last long the two times they dropped to the EL, did they, so maybe this is their level now! :grin1:

U really thinks a league with these teams will generate more money and income than an UCL with Bayern PSG and EPL Teams? Are you kidding?

It will be a financial desaster for Laporta.

Exactly, particularly because SL format will cause a significant fall in the value of domestic leagues.

What about “If, and it’s a big if” is unclear?
