This is an incredibly difficult group to predict, because besides Portugal (who should win it), the other three teams all have players who could make a difference, but equally, are all sides you could easily see finishing bottom of their group.

However, if you are a believer in curious coincidences, I give you the Czech Republic's Euro record:

1996 - final
2000 - group stage exit
2004 - semifinals
2008 - group stage exit
2012 - quarterfinals
2016 - group stage exit
2020 - quaterfinals
2024 - group stage exit?

Turkey managed to finish top of their qualifying group through a win in Croatia, yet have underperformed significantly at the last two Euros.

Georgia are newcomers and the bigger teams ought to have more quality, or acclimatisation to tournaments.

Yet the Czechs have Soucek and Schick, the Turks have fascinating youngster Guler and a number of solid options from the fine Galatasaray and Fenerbahce teams this season, and Georgia have Kvaratskhelia and a few real talents that my anxiety is flaring trying to spell, like Davitashvili of Bordeaux who seems one to watch.

All this means... I haven't a clue, but I'm looking forward to this group.

I haven't mentioned Portugal, who have insane riches in their team, although if they do bring back Ronaldo for the tournament that'll be annoying.

Prediction
1. Portugal
2. Georgia
3. Turkey
4. Czech Republic.

This is a complete fools game to predict though.

Ronaldo never left, so they wouldn't be bringing him back. And he's carried on banging in goals for them, so I expect they'll call him, he's given them no reason not to. They called him up for the friendlies this window and he wasn't even the oldest one there, he's 39 and 41 year old Pepe was called up, and that man absolutely still has it from what I saw against Arsenal from him.

It had seemed like he was being eased out post World Cup (though I can't find that window now) but anyhow, I stand by my long standing conviction that the best I've seen Portugal play in the last decade has been without Ronaldo.

He scored 10 goals in qualifying, second only to Lukaku with a ridiculous 14.
