Africa set to host the tournament for the first time

Following this edition, the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ will have been staged in all six confederations

The competition will take place between 1 and 11 May 2025

The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025™ brand was revealed at a vibrant, colourful ceremony held in the Indian Ocean nation that was attended by the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, and the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) President, Elvis Chetty.

The tournament will be hosted by a CAF member association for the first time and follows hot on the heels of the hugely successful FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup UAE 2024 Dubai™, which was attended by more than 70,000 fans.

The brand launch, held at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort on the south side of Mahé Island, epitomised the vibrant energy of the islands and featured a fire dance involving local drummers and dancers.

The SFF President and chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Chetty, said: “The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2025 isn’t merely a tournament; it’s a beacon of opportunity for the Seychelles. Hosting an event of this magnitude has a significant impact, promising to usher in an era of unparalleled growth and development for our islands and the football community at large.”

First held in 2005, the 2025 edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ will be the 13th instalment of a tournament that has been held every two years since 2009. Following outstanding events held in the AFC (Dubai in 2009 and 2024), Concacaf (Bahamas in 2017), CONMEBOL (Paraguay in 2019), OFC (Tahiti in 2013) and UEFA (Italy in 2011, Portugal in 2015 and Russia in 2021) regions and after the 2025 edition, the tournament will have been hosted by every confederation in the space of just 12 years.

Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) President Elvis Chetty, FIFA Director of Tournaments Jaime Yarza and President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan during the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Seychelles 2025 brand launch

“This will be the first-ever FIFA tournament to be staged in the Seychelles and the first FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Africa, making it a historic event for our organisation,” said FIFA Director of Tournaments Jaime Yarza. “It also shows that we’re making football truly global by taking our tournaments to fascinating and varied locations.”

He continued: “The Seychelles will provide a stunning backdrop for this competition, which promises to leave a valuable legacy for the islands. We hope that everyone in the Seychelles and around the world has the opportunity to watch a fantastic beach soccer tournament played in a tropical paradise.”

Beach soccer is a highly entertaining sport and, although it demands special skills, it has much in common with football played on regular pitches. It is a simple game that is contested on sand and unites the world, and averaging more goals per match than any other format of the beautiful game, it always promises a fun and action-packed day out for fans of all ages.

AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Committee approves competition formats and dates

https://www.the-afc.com/en/about_afc/te ... dates.html

The AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Committee made several key decisions today as part of its efforts to ensure the continued progress of both sports at its second meeting held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Held on the eve of the ongoing AFC Futsal Asian Cup™ Thailand 2024 Final, the Committee, led by Chairperson Mehdi Taj, congratulated and sent their best wishes to the two finalists – Thailand and the Islamic Republic of Iran – on qualifying for Sunday’s final and expressed their gratitude to the hosts, the Football Association of Thailand, for their outstanding hosting capabilities.

In preparation for the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup that is set to kick off in 2025, the Committee approved the format, competition dates and regulations of the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025™, which will be organised quadrennially.

The AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup 2025™ Finals, tentatively scheduled to be held from May 7 to 18, will be contested in a centralised location by the Continent’s top 12 sides, divided into three groups of four teams each to be played in a single round robin format, with the top two finishers and two best third-placed teams qualifying for the Quarter-finals.

The Semi-finals, followed by the third-placed playoff match and title-decider will determine Asia’s three representatives at the inaugural edition of the women’s futsal global showpiece. The Committee also mandated the AFC Administration to finalise the format and competition dates of the Qualifiers, which will be decided based on the number of entries received and is currently scheduled to be held in the window of January 2025.

Moving onto the men’s equivalent, the Committee had a discussion on the format of the next edition of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup™. The Committee noted the challenges of the current biennial format, particularly against the backdrop of the quadrennial FIFA Futsal World Cup,

The Committee also discussed the impact on Asian futsal development from various aspects and after due consideration, the decision was taken to mandate the Administration to make the final decision taking into account all the points discussed at the meeting.

Members of the Committee also noted the growth of the AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™, which currently does not comprise a Qualifiers stage. In anticipation of expanded interest from PMAs, the Committee mandated the AFC Administration to decide on the format and competition dates of the potential AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup™ Qualifiers, which is tentatively scheduled to be held from November 15 to 24, 2024.

Finally, the Committee also noted the comprehensive initiatives and programmes undertaken in the key areas of Referees, Technical and Development, which include the AFC Futsal & Beach Soccer Coaching Courses, the AFC Futsal Member Associations Development Online Meetings and the AFC Referees Recruitment 2023 and 2024.

All decisions will need to be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee to take effect.
